Some of you might have seen me post this on Tapatalk and Facebook a few months ago, but I've improved the technique and made it much, much simpler by creating an app that will convert your favorite Sims 2 character's personality point spread (which is based on The Big 5 - a test similar to the MBTI, but more scientific) to Sims 4 aspirations and traits.

Throughout The Sims Series there are premade Sims ready made for the cruel/benevolent Sim god to decide their fate. This page is dedicated to them as their current state is before your untimely intervention on their lives for good or for ill

The Goth Family:

Perhaps the most famous family known to the Sims, this three-Sim family is known as the most well off of all of the Sims in the initial game.

• Actually Not a Vampire: Mortimer, who is basically an expy of Gomez Addams, has very pale skin and hates garlic.
• Ambiguously Brown: Bella and Cassandra.

• Expy: Of the Addams family.
• Creepy Cemetery: They have one in their own backyard.
• Germanic Depressives: Averted, for the most part. Though their surname implies German ancestry and they enjoy a dark and Gothic aesthetic, they're actually mostly rather upbeat.
• Iconic Outfit: Bella's red dress.

• Only Six Faces: Due to the limited number of heads and outfits included in the base game, several of the relatives buried on the lot use the same faces and outfits as other pre-made sims.
• Perky Goth: Mortimer is actually very cheerful and Bella is an avid fan of miniature golf.
• Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: If free will is on, Cassandra will spend a worrying amount of time mourning the tombstones.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance^note : One of the ghosts that haunts the manor, 'Bratty', looks exactly like Cassandra.
  • Another ghost child called Boy also haunts the lot, and he bears a striking resemblance to both Cassandra and Bratty, as well as the unborn Alexander Goth.
• Waistcoat of Style: Mortimer's everyday outfit.

The Newbie family

A married couple used in the game's tutorial, the Newbies are perhaps the most well-known characters from the first game, second only to the Goths.

• Alliterative Family: Bob and Betty, who also have a daughter named Brandi in the sequel, and a dog named Buddy in one of the spin-offs.
• Bag of Spilling: Betty marrying Bob didn't exactly help her musical talent much.
• Badass Beard: Bob's most recognizable feature is probably his large beard.
• Dead Sparks: Bob and Betty are not in love at the start of the game. However their relationship got better between games as they eventually had a daughter.
• Smarter Than You Look: Bob may look grungy and filthy, but he's actually quite the bookworm.

Sims 2 Brandi Broke Personality Test Questions

Michael Bachelor

A single bachelor family designed for players to get into the game without worry about silly nuances like roommates.

• Ambiguously Brown: He uses the medium skin tone and has vaguely Asian-seeming facial features. However, his familial connection to Bella Goth (revealed in the sequel) makes it more difficult to ascertain his ethnicity, since Bella is his sister and a purer example of this trope.
• Older Than They Look: Michael was revealed to be the older brother to Bella Goth and is a teenager in The Sims 3, which takes place several years before, possibly making him in his forties or fifties.
• Expy: Of the Graduate.

The Pleasant family

Married couple Jeff and Diane Pleasant and their children, Daniel and Jennifer.

• Ambiguously Brown: Diane and Jennifer.
• Older Than They Look: While Daniel is the same age as Jennifer due to the limited aging mechanics, The Sims 2 revealed that he would at least have been a teenager in-continuity.

The Roomies family

Chris and Melissa are two young women sharing a house.

• Ms. Fanservice: The Prima Official Game Guide implies that they were included so that male players had a starting family they'd like the look of.
• No Last Name Given: Since TS 1 doesn't allow for individual surnames within a household, their surname is actually 'Roomies'. The console spin-off, which does allow separate last names, reveals their surnames to be Jones and Smith.

The Mashuga family

Frankie and Sylvia Marie are a married couple living in a very unique house.

• Ambiguously Jewish: Their surname is a Yiddish vocabulary word rather than a Jewish name, but still.
• Meaningful Name: Their surname is Yiddish for 'crazy' and they live in a bright pink octagonal house, sleep in a vibrating heart-shaped bed, have a safari-themed animal print living room and a life-sized statue of a naked man in their bathroom.
• Sickening Sweethearts: If the decor of their house (particularly the bedroom) is anything to go by. They also have a fairly high starting relationship, which could be an attempt to nudge the player in this direction.

The Goth, Sr. family

The elderly parents of Mortimer Goth, and their two pet cats.

• Granny Classic: Cornelia is outright stated to be this to Cassandra.
• Happily Married: Gunther and Cornelia has a great relationship, especially considering their relationship level during The Sims 3.
• Skunk Stripe: Gunther has black hair with grey hair on the sides.
• Older Than They Look: Gunther looks to be middle-aged and does not have fully grey hair, despite the fact that he's older than his wife who looks much older,
• Waistcoat of Style: Gunther has a very stylish grey, old-fashioned suit.

The Hick family

Middle-aged former beauty queen Mama Hick lives with her grown son, Elden, and their three dogs.

• Brainless Beauty: Mama is a former beauty queen who lost her money to a phone psychic.
• Southern-Fried Genius: Despite likely having little-to-no formal education, Elden is implied to be intelligent and is known to enjoy classical music.
• Meaningful Name: They live in a shabby trailer, their stove is on the front yard and the mother lost all her money to a scammer.

The Burb family

Consists of a down-to-earth farmer, his fashionable wife, their young son, and his dog.

• A Boy and His X: Johnny and Tucker are a classic, wholesome, 1950s-stereotype example of the 'a boy and his dog' trope.
• Call to Agriculture: The men of the Burb family definitely have some trace of this. Brad has moved his family from the city to the suburbs so that he can become a full-time gardener, an ambition later shared by his son in the sequel.
• Generation Xerox: Prior to the game, Brad convinces Tiffany to move from the city to the suburbs so that he can have a garden, and she agrees despite her reservations. In The Sims 2, the exact same scenario plays out between their now-adult son John and his wife, Jennifer.
• Meaningful Name: It's a contraction of 'suburb', where the men of the family prefer to live.

Ginia Kat

An elderly woman living alone with her four cats.

• Crazy Cat Lady: Downplayed since her personality is actually very sweet and well-adjusted, if a little on the shy side. She does have four cats, though - and her bio mentions that she likes to write and illustrate children's books based on them in her spare time.
• Granny Classic: Possibly the purest example in the game in terms of appearance and temperament, except for the fact that she has no kids or grandkids in evidence. The Sims 2 reveals that she adopted Tara sometime after The Sims 1, so it's easy to imagine her fitting this trope to all intents and purposes, though of course she's actually Tara's adopted mother rather than her grandmother.

Claire Charming

A friendly young woman who lives alone with her pet dog.

• Hospital Hottie: While she's perhaps not in-your-face stunning, Claire is a very pretty Sim who works in the Medical career.
• Meaningful Name: Claire Charming is easily one of the nicest characters in the game: she works in medicine because she likes helping people as well as being super-smart, likes to volunteer in her spare time, is witty, has esoteric interests in live music and biotechnology; and yet she's not the least bit arrogant or unapproachable, and has one of the highest nice point ratings in the whole game.

The Snooty Patooty family:

A wealthy, arrogant married couple living in a mansion.

• Ambiguously Brown: Buffy and Chip both have the medium skin tone and golden-brown hair, meaning they might be mixed-race, or possibly just very tanned due to their leisurely lifestyle.
• Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Even though Chip and Buffy are jerks, they still care very much about each other, having one of the highest starting relationships of any married couple in the game.
• Iconic Outfit: Buffy dresses identically to Bella Goth, sporting her now-iconic red dress.
• Meaningful Name: Chip and Buffy are both very, very snooty.
• Rich Bitch: Buffy is obviously one.
• Rich Idiot with No Day Job: They may not be idiots, but they certainly express that attitude: while it's not unusual for pre-made Sims to start off unemployed, Chip and Buffy's bios boast about how the responsibilities attached to their inherited wealth (like being part of the Bridge Club and the Yacht Club) mean they're simply too busy to get jobs.

The Jones family

A pretty average, suburban family consisting of a husband working a low-wage job, a housewife, and their young son.

• Ambiguously Brown: Barbara.
• Cheerful Child: Bobby.
• Identical Stranger:
  • Barbara uses the exact same facial skin (including skin tone) as Julia Valentino, the only two playable characters for whom this is the case. Though it's possible to play them as siblings or cousins, Sims in 'TS1' don't have formal relationships or starting relationships outside of their household, meaning they are strangers to one another at the start of the game.
  • Bobby's facial skin is identical to the one used by 'Boy' in the Goth family graveyard. Incidentally, this also makes him a dead ringer for the as-yet-unborn Alexander Goth.
• Nerd Glasses: Both Edward and Bobby.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Aside from the hair color and clothes, Bobby looks pretty much exactly like his father, though as a child.

The Maximus family

A wealthy, charming, yet somewhat misogynist criminal, who married a Sim Native princess and opera singer.

• Ambiguously Brown: 'Jimmy' Maximus. His real first name, MAHUIZOH, is Nahuatl, possibly implying he's descended from the indigenous people of Mexico.
• Ladykiller in Love: MAHUIZOH's bio makes it clear that he was wont to use women in the past. However, he is genuinely in love with Zaghawa.
• My Name Is ???: The husband of the family is only known as MAHUIZOH 'Jimmy' Maximus. Though Mahuizoh actually is an Aztec name, why it's in ALL CAPS remains a mystery.
• My Nayme Is: SPELLED WITH ALL CAPS, in MAHUIZOH's case.
• Rebellious Princess: Princess Zaghawa rejected her royal life to reach her dream of becoming an opera singer.
• Waist Coat Of Style: Wears the same outfit as Mortimer Goth.

The Hatfield family

An extremely lower-class clan of rednecks, consisting of a husband and wife, their two sons, and daughter. The wife's bio implies that she is pregnant with her fourth child, though since pregnancy wasn't a game mechanic in The Sims, it is up to the player whether or not they have another child.

• Dead Sparks: Ulysses T and Ruby Ann have the second lowest starting relationship of any married couple in the game (the lowest belongs to Bob and Betty Newbie). They're still friends, but can't fall in love until the player intervenes to improve things between them.
• Sibling Rivalry: Hank and Billy are said to tease Elizabeth a lot.
• Southern-Fried Genius: Elizabeth Elvira starts off in a pretty unpromising situation: the youngest child and only girl of a dirt-poor family, her brothers tease her, her father seems completely disinterested in her compared to the boys, and while her mother clearly cares for her she also wants to use her to live out her own failed dreams of becoming a model and actress. However, Elizabeth's starting school grade is the highest of any child's in the game (higher even than Cassandra Goth's!), implying that she's about to discover she fits this trope.

The Valentino family

A wealthy and fashionable couple living in a mansion-style home. Julia is employed in law enforcement, while Rudy is a househusband.

• Ambiguously Brown: Both Rudy and Julia.
• Fair Cop: Julia Valentino is pretty and fashionable in her at-home appearance, and is well on her way to advancing up the ranks of the law enforcement career.
• House Husband: Rudy is unemployed at the start of the game, while his wife works.
• Identical Stranger: Julia uses the exact same facial skin (including skin tone) as Barbara Jones, the only two playable characters for whom this is the case. Though it's possible to play them as siblings or cousins, Sims in 'TS1' don't have formal relationships or starting relationships outside of their household, meaning they are strangers to one another at the start of the game.

Sims 2 Brandi Broke Personality Test Answers

The Agent family

Six mysterious characters whose home is known as 'The White House', and who are implied to be keeping surveillance on the other inhabitants of the neighbourhood, for unknown reasons.

• Incredibly Obvious Bug: Their whole shtick in the game is that they're meant to be keeping discreet tabs on the other residents, yet even though their neighbours don't know their real names, they do know exactly which agency every agent is working for.
• No Name Given: Instead of proper names, they only go by descriptions, possibly because they're meant to be in the neighbourhood incognito: FBI Agent, NSA Agent, CIA Agent, ATF Agent, INS Agent, and Intern Agent.

Presumed to be located within SimCity, Pleasantview is your typical suburban neighborhood with your average families living average, peaceful lives.. right?

In the twenty-five years that have since passed between The Sims and The Sims 2, a lot of things have changed. Mortimer is now old and his daughter Cassandra has grown into a beautiful woman engaged to the town's local womanizer, Daniel and Jennifer are now adults with families of their own, and Michael Bachelor passed away an unspecified amount of time before the start of the game. The Newbies have left a daughter, Brandi, who is struggling to raise her two sons, and a few new families have joined the descendants of the original The Sims 1 cast, each with their own ambitions and desires.

One of the neighborhood's most, if not the most, prominent storyline involves the disappearance of Bella Goth, who has not been seen since she was last spotted scaling the deck of Don Lothario's condo. The Caliente sisters are said to have arrived on the eve of her disappearance, raising rumours that they may have been involved in her disappearance; Unfortunately their interest in Mortimer does nothing to help matters. Accompanying this is a messy Love Dodecahedron centered around a majority of the cast.

• Betty and Veronica:
  • Darren Dreamer is the Betty and Don Lothario the Veronica to Cassandra Goth's Archie.
  • Cassandra the Betty and Nina Caliente the Veronica to Don's Archie.
  • To Daniel Pleasant's Archie, his workaholic wife Mary-Sue is the Betty and his maid-turned-mistress Kaylynn Langerak is the Veronica.
• Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Dustin Broke and Angela Pleasant give off this dynamic.
• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Unlike all the other characters from The Sims 1 base game (i.e. the Goths, the Newbies, the Pleasants, and Michael Bachelor), there's no mention of what happened to Chris and Melissa Roomies.
  • Counting the characters introduced in expansions to TS1, this also extends to the Hick family, the Mashugas, Claire Charming, and all the free DLC characters. Initially, only the Burbs and the members of the extended Goth clan made the cut; Ginia Kat's daughter eventually turns up in one of the expansions, however.
• Four-Philosophy Ensemble: Played with, as far as 'teams' go. The playable Teens form a loose ensemble.
  • Angela: The Optimist
  • Lilith: The Cynic
  • Dustin: The Apathetic
  • Dirk: The Realist
• Loads and Loads of Characters: Natch.
• Love Dodecahedron: Don't even start.◊
• Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Dustin appears to be the 'manlier' guy compared to Dirk, the only other playable teenage guy in the neighborhood. Darren Dreamer and Don Lothario fit this dynamic as well.
• Stepford Suburbia: Downplayed. According to the description, Pleasantview used to be a rather pleasant place to live in. Now, however, the neighborhood isn't quite as happy as it looks. Every family (with the notable exception of the Burbs and the Oldies) has their own problems.
  • The Brokes, as their name implies, are short on money, with recently widowed mother Brandi having to deal with her oldest son turning to crime to make a living, worrying about raising her youngest right, and coming to terms with having a third child.
  • The Dreamers are stuck in a financial crisis ever since the death of Darren's wife, with his paintings barely bringing in the required funds. Darren himself has fallen in love with his long-time best friend Cassandra, but she's off-limits, and worse, engaged to the local Casanova.
  • The Pleasants are your average stereotypical middle-class family, except there's more to it than one might think. Daniel is starving for intimacy, so he's started an affair with the household maid right under his workaholic wife's nose. Meanwhile, his twin daughters Angela and Lilith are caught up in an intense rivalry.
  • Don Lothario is the neighborhood's local womanizer, who's involved with four different women at the start of the game. He's engaged to Cassandra Goth, although many doubt his ability to stay faithful.
  • The Caliente sisters came to the neighborhood on the eve of Bella's disappearance and find themselves struggling financially as well. Dina seeks to rectify the problem by seducing the aging Mortimer.
  • The Goths are trying to deal with Bella being gone from their lives. Cassandra is now engaged to womanizer Don Lothario, but no one knows if the marriage will even go through.
• Tangled Family Tree: Assuming the player obeys the various pop-up prompts and manages not to cause Don to leave Cassandra at the altar, one of these forms in combination with the Love Dodecahedron, with Dina becoming the stepmother of her niece and nephew from her first marriage, and Cassandra marrying the man who also has romantic interest in her aunt/stepmother, the twin of said aunt/stepmother, and even her own mother.
• Tomboy and Girly Girl: Lilith and Angela Pleasant have this dynamic, as well as Nina and Dina Caliente.

The Goth family

Since we last visited this well known family, Mortimer and Bella have welcomed another child, Alexander, while Cassandra has grown up into a beautiful woman who's already engaged. But recently, Bella has mysteriously disappeared in an alien abduction, while Mortimer finds himself being seduced by a Gold Digger.

• Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Cassandra certainly fits the bill.
• Continuity Nod: In the original The Sims, among the ghosts that haunted the Goth manor were two children. One of them was a girl named 'Bratty' who looked exactly like Cassandra, and the other was a nerdy looking boy who was simply named 'Boy'. Neither of the ghosts haunt the Goth manor in The Sims 2, but Alexander does bear a very close resemblance to Boy.
• Child Prodigy: Alexander's favourite hobbies are optometry and number theory!
• Girlish Pigtails: Cassandra retains them even through her adulthood.
• Gold Digger: Bella in the PSP version.
• LEGO Genetics: Alexander does not resemble either of his parents at all and instead looks like the townie Goopy.
• May–December Romance: Mortimer is older much than his current romantic interest Dina, who is younger than his own daughter. If Bella is brought back and get back together, Bella and Mortimer technically fits the bill.
• Missing Mom: Bella. The story mentions that she's supposed to be in Strangetown; though she does appear there as a non-playable character, she's probably not the same Bella.
  • Another copy of Bella does exist within Pleasantview's files. However, she has a token on her that marks her as dead, and if she is simply summoned to a lot, she'll eventually turn into a ghost and vanish away.
• Older Than They Look: Bella is technically in the Adult life stage, but her memories and Mortimer's show that they were childhood friends, meaning that she actually must have lived through enough days to make her an Elder like him. Presumably she had access to better Elixir of Life than he did.
• Only Six Faces: Alexander looks nothing like the rest of his family, but looks exactly like the townie Goopy GilsCarbo.
• Runaway Groom: Even though the pop-ups at the Goth house encourage the player to marry Cassandra and Don quickly, chances are very high that Don will leave her at the altar if their relationship scores aren't quite high enough, which will almost certainly plunge Cassandra into aspiration failure. Some players report that Cassandra can also pull this on Don if he's the one to initiate the marriage interaction.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Cassandra looks almost exactly like her grandmother Cornelia when it comes to facial structure and their choice of glasses.

The Pleasant family:

Jeff and Diane have long since passed away, but their children Daniel and Jennifer have both married and are now parents of their own. Of course, Daniel's life has gone downhill as a result of being married to a workaholic, and being the father of twin girls who despise each other.

• Abusive Parents: It's very easy for Daniel and Mary-Sue to slip into this if left alone with Lilith; their relationship scores start low enough for them to slap and poke her, or for her to slap and poke them. The real issue comes from if she's being targeted by more than one person, as without player intervention her queue can be so flooded with attack attempts that she won't get a chance to either initiate her own attack or escape from the room.
• All Girls Want Bad Boys: Angela's in a relationship with Dustin Broke, a criminal. No wonder Daniel hates him so much.
• Black Sheep: Lilith. It even shows in the loading screen, where her default expression is scowling while faced away from the rest of her family. Justified in that it's implied she's a victim of Parental Neglect who's had to suffer under the pressure of high standards, hence why she may feel the need to differentiate from her more rigidly perfectionist parents and sister.
• Born Lucky: Angela. Or well, at least by high school standards. Pretty? Check. Dating a total hottie? Check. Good grades? Check. All the love and attention from parents? Hell yes.
• Cain and Abel: Angela and Lilith seem to have this dynamic, but not in the way one might expect. When the family is first played, it's often Angela who initiates the slapping and shoving against her sister.
• Delinquent: Lilith's memories show that she at one point snuck out with Dirk and wound up getting arrested by the police. Strangely enough, the 'Got Busted' memory itself shows a picture of a burglar, Gordon King, implying that she may have joined him on a crime spree and got caught that way.
• Dark Is Not Evil: Lilith. While she may dress in some heavy Punk Rock/Goth inspired clothing she's not shown to be outright malicious and has just had it rougher than her sister, owing to Parental Neglect.
• Dating What Daddy Hates: Dustin and Daniel start off as enemies. This is however averted with Dirk Dreamer, Lilith's boyfriend, as Daniel has not shown any visible disapproval of him.
• Dead Sparks: Mary-Sue and Daniel are distant to each other. Their relationship panel shows that they're not even in love anymore.
• Dysfunctional Family: And how! A workaholic mother who pays no attention to her daughters' squabbling while her husband has an affair with the maid because he just misses all the affection.
• Good Is Not Nice: Angela is described as 'patient' and 'dutiful', but she's not above slapping or shoving her younger twin around and phoning her boyfriend (Thus breaking house rules) in the middle of the night to ask him if he wants to sneak out.

• Happily Adopted: Mary-Sue was adopted as a toddler by the Oldies.
• Ironic Name: They're the Pleasants, and yet they're nowhere near as pleasant as you'd expect, given that it's a family comprised of a neglectful, workaholic mother, a cheating father, and their two squabbling twin daughters, one of whom is implied to have been heavily neglected in her childhood.
• Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Angela and Lilith, respectively.
• Married to the Job: Mary-Sue is so focused on her job that she's oblivious to the fact that her husband is having an affair with the housemaid and that her daughters are trying to rip each other's throats out.
• Meaningful Name: Lilith is the name of a demon in the bible, whereas Angela is, quite obviously, a rendition of the word 'Angel'. Mary-Sue speaks for itself, really.
• Parental Neglect: It's quite obvious that Angela was favoured over Lilith in their childhood, as Lilith has no memories of being taught to walk and talk, and potty trained. Angela also has a computer, whereas Lilith does not.
• Punny Name: Daniel's grandparents are named Les and Kynda Pleasant.
• Opposites Attract: Goody two-shoes Angela is dating delinquent Dustin Broke and Lillith is dating mild-mannered Dirk Dreamer.
• The Perfectionist: It's implied Angela is this. Her mother is outright stated to be one as well.

• Sadistic Choice: The first time you play the Pleasants, you're treated to a chatbox that expresses Daniel's frustration with the lack of affection that his wife gives him. Right after this Mary-Sue will leave for work, and the housemaid, Kaylynn Langerak, will arrive. Daniel can choose to romance Kaylynn while Mary-Sue is at work. You'll get a work chance card (A card with two answers, one of which will be either good or bad and the third being an ignore button) and no matter what cheats you used, any choice you make (except the ignore) is programmed to fail, which basically sets Mary-Sue up for a Trauma Conga Line as she loses her job and catches her husband cheating on her.
• Sibling Rivalry: The relationship between Angela and Lilith is so bad that they're marked as enemies. They also start out standing right next to each other when their house is first loaded, meaning that chances are very high one sister will immediately slap or poke the other.
• Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Despite coming off as a stereotypical Bad Girl, Lilith appears to be in a relatively stable relationship with Dirk Dreamer, who is more of a Nice Guy than anything else. Ironically, if you compare their relationship with the likes of Dustin and Angela's, it's evidently quite clear that Lilith and Dirk's relationship is definitely the most stable of the two twins, given that Daniel appears to have no visible problems with Dirk himself, unlike Dustin.
• Smitten Teenage Girl: The first time you play as Angela, she has a want to have her First Kiss with Dustin. Contrast Lilith, who already has memories of kissing and even making out with Dirk (as well as sneaking out with him and getting caught), which gives Lilith at least one field in where she's better than her sister - romance.
• Stepford Smiler: Daniel and Mary Sue are implied to be this, Daniel having to deal with his dad's 'Shaggy Dog' Story of never becoming an astronaut and Mary-Sue being a perfectionist, which might have also triggered their daughters' rivalry.
• Rebellious Spirit: Lilith, mostly because of her neglected childhood and quite possibly also because of her family's perfectionist lifestyle. Even Angela isn't above this, as she will at one point call Dustin and ask if he wants to sneak out when you're playing the Broke family.
• The Runaway: Lilith has the potential to become this if you don't mend her strained relationship with her parents.
• The Un-Favourite: Lilith. She's going to have some serious issues in her adulthood if the player doesn't improve her current lifestyle.
• Troubled, but Cute: Lilith is looks cute without the Goth make-up, in the same vein as Dustin Broke.
• Your Cheating Heart: Daniel is having an affair with his maid Kaylynn, and when the household is first loaded, the player is given encouragement to continue this relationship since he has the house to himself all day. The player is also encouraged to force Mary-Sue to come home early through a rigged chance card, likely letting her catch Daniel in the act.

The Dreamer Family

Darren is a middle-aged widower raising his teenage son, Dirk. After his wife's death, Darren quit his nine-to-five in order to pursue his dream of becoming a famous painter. His model and muse is Cassandra Goth, whom he's secretly in love with.

• Alliterative Family: Darren Dreamer, Dirk Dreamer and the late Darleen Dreamer. Additionally, all of Darren's ancestors have first names beginning with 'D'.
• Dating What Daddy Hates: Averted. Darren doesn't seem to have any problems with the fact that his only son is dating the rebellious black sheep Lilith Pleasant.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Dirk's memories show that his school performance suffered after his mother's death, and he has the 'Grew Up Badly' token on his age transition memory from child to teen, implying he had a bad few years. However, his bio implies that he's working hard to overcome it, and he's well on his way to becoming an overachiever by the time the game starts.
• Dummied Out: There is a hidden version of Darleen that can be found in the game files, with a scrapped haircut, a slightly different face and wearing different clothes.
• Dogged Nice Guy: Darren is this to his best friend Cassandra, who's engaged to DonLothario. He's implied to be far too decent to try to break up their relationship, despite his distrust of Don.
• May–December Romance: Downplayed, but Cassandra's age bar shows she's quite a bit younger than Darren. Following the evidence in the back story as far as possible, she's probably around thirty, while he's maybe mid-to-late forties.
• Missing Mom: Darleen passed away some time before the events of the game and is buried in the family lot.
• Retcon: Darren's memories show that he was employed in the Business career before quitting to become a painter. However, when he appears in TS3, he's already working as a painter before meeting Darleen and having Dirk. (It could be reconciled that he chose to get a more stable job after getting married and becoming a parent, though.)
• Starving Artist: Darren's financial situation is on the rocks since Darleen's passing.

The Broke Family

The daughter of Betty and Bob Newbie, Brandi hasn't had much luck since her husband passed away in a pool accident, and with the advent of another child and two kids growing up and one turning to crime, things are only going to get tougher for Brandi and the Broke family.

• Absurdly Youthful Mother: Brandi is only in the first few days of the adult life stage, nowhere near old enough to have a teenage son unless she had access to the Elixir of Life aspiration reward or cheats that allowed her to become pregnant as a teen. Fanon often seems to regard her as a former teen mother.
• Aloof Big Brother: At the start of the game Dustin and Beau don't have the highest starting relationship, possibly implying this.
• Delinquent: Dustin. He works in the crime career and is friends with a burglar, Gordon King, who was also implied to have been arrested along with Lilith Pleasant at one point, judging from her memories.
• Dummied Out: There is a hidden version of Skip that can be found in the game files, with blue eyes instead of green, and a slightly different face.
• Disappeared Dad: Skip Broke is deceased before the start of the game, and the family bio mentions him having been involved in a 'suspicious pool ladder accident'.
• Gameplay and Story Segregation: As mentioned above in the Absurdly Youthful Mother entry, she's only into the first few days of her adult stage, yet has a teenage son. This would suggest her as being a former teen mother, even though such a thing isn't possible in gameplay without player-created mods.
• Meaningful Name: Among the poorest families in the game.
• Opposite-Sex Clone: Unless the player tampers with Brandi's pregnancy in some way, her unborn child will always be male. This is because the child has no genetics from Skip, and since his only genetic parent is Brandi, the game will spawn him as the other sex.
• Troubled, but Cute: Dustin works in the criminal career and is said to be acting out. He looks fairly cute as a teenager. Interestingly, he also happens to be dating Angela Pleasant, the neighborhood's Goody two-shoes.

The Caliente Twins

The lovely sisters of Pleasantview, made up of the gold-digging Dina and the maneater Nina. Both sisters have it rough after Nina losing her job, Dina's husband Michael's untimely passing and the Repoman taking what they had from their inheritance.

• Dark-Skinned Blonde/Dark-Skinned Redhead: Dina and Nina, respectively.
• Dummied Out: There is a hidden version of Michael that can be found in the game files, with a very different personality, the medium skintone and a purple tracksuit.
• First Love: Nina is this to Don and vice versa: They've been romantically involved since adolescence.
• Gold Digger: Dina only wants Mortimer for his money. It is not clear if this was the case with her former husband, Michael.
• May–December Romance: Dina is still barely into the adult life stage and seems to be no older than her mid-twenties, but her late husband Michael died naturally of old age. Her new love interest, Mortimer Goth, is also in the elder stage. Dina's actually a little younger than Mortimer's daughter.
• The Mistress: Both Dina and Nina (Nina is more likely) have the potential to become this if Don does end up marrying Cassandra. Who's probably going to be none the wiser.
• Polar Opposite Twins: Though it isn't mentioned in any descriptions, their personality points are perfect opposites of each other.
• Second Love: Dina is this to Mortimer Goth. The Caliente's family description throws the possibility of Dina reciprocating into ambiguity by asking if the sisters' interest in Mortimer is 'physical.. or fiscal?'
• Sibling Triangle: Both are romantically involved with Don Lothario, though they don't seem to know it (yet). Also, Mortimer Goth has starting wants to flirt with both of them, meaning that another triangle will form around him if the player chooses to follow this prompt.

• Uneven Hybrids: Their grandfather Nestor was abducted by aliens and later gave birth to their father Flamenco. Unusually, neither the sisters or their father have any alien characteristics.
• Wrench Wench: Both sisters in the console version; their back-story mentions that they modelled hand tools for a local hardware store in a calendar entitled 'Wrenches of Summer', Invoking this trope almost verbatim. The same bio mentions that Nina is genuinely interested in mechanics, hoping to work in medicine one day.

Don Lothario

The single bachelor of Pleasantview and womanizer extraordinaire, currently engaged to Cassandra but has issues about sealing the deal.

• Bag of Spilling: Despite being fit, because he got zapped, he forgot his body points.
• The Casanova: Of the Neighborhood. As if it weren't obvious enough already.
• First Love: Don's memories indicate Nina is his first lover, and has been so since they were teenagers.
• Hospital Hottie: He's employed in the Medical career.
• Ladykiller in Love: Has the potential to be this depending on what the player chooses to do about his engagement to Cassandra Goth.
• Meaningful Name: Well, he is a womanizer, with 'Lothario' detailing a man that chronically seduces women and 'Don' being a reference to another classic libertine, Don Juan. By the start of the game he has four different lovers.
• Mr. Fanservice: He's considered quite handsome by many players.
• Poor Communication Kills: Don hasn't let any of his lovers know that he's seeing different women. This, of course, is bound to lead to a shitstorm sooner or later. At the start of the game the player is encouraged to hire a maid (Who will always be Kaylynn Langerak unless she's been made a playable Sim at that point) to clean Don's house whilst also encouraging them to invite Nina over for.. ahem WooHoo. Unless the player is very careful or good at micromanaging Don and one lover away from the other lover, a shit ton of screaming and fighting is going to happen. And it will be ugly (Or amusing).
• Runaway Groom: Don is very likely to run away from his wedding if the player ignores the game's advice when the Goth mansion is first loaded. If he initiates the wedding on his own lot, though, Cassandra might be the one leaving him at the altar. And either of these can be averted if their relationship is strong enough.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Don and his father Nicolo look extremely alike, down to the same beard and hairstyle.
• Unknown Rival: He has an adequate relationship towards Darren at the start of the game, while Darren considers him to be an enemy.
• Your Cheating Heart: Despite being engaged to Cassandra, he still continues his flings with Kaylynn and Nina, and he also has a crush on Dina, who is implied to be his next conquest.

The Burb Family

While her brother Daniel struggled with his guilt over their father's failed dreams and his own crumbling marriage, Jennifer married John Burb and settled into a fast-paced city life. The Burbs have moved back into the suburbs, bringing with them their daughter named Lucy. They start the game inside the Family Bin and do not yet have a house.

• Ambiguously Brown: Jennifer.
• Call to Agriculture: Like his father in the original game, John has moved his family to the suburbs because he wants to spend more time in his garden.
• Happily Married: John and Jennifer have the strongest starting relationship of any married couple in the base game, and aren't set up for any dramas in the near future.
• House Husband: It is implied that John wants to be this, to focus on his family and his garden.

The Oldie Family

Mary-Sue's adoptive parents have decided to move back into Pleasantview to live near their daughter her family, but they don't know that Mary-Sue's facade of a happy family life is cracked at the seams. They start the game inside the Family Bin and do not yet have a house.

• Extreme Doormat: Coral is heavily implied to be one.
• Happily Married: Played with. Herb has the Romance aspiration and it's implied that he cheated on Coral several times in his youth, and will definitely roll wants to do so again during game-play; however, he's one of the few romance Sims in-game to have a positive memory of getting married, and he and Coral have a high starting relationship, and are eligible to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
• Stepford Smiler: Coral's bio calls her 'the picture of maternal perfection', but hints that she regrets dedicating her life entirely to her husband and daughter instead of pursuing her own dreams as well.
• Your Cheating Heart: Herb's bio calls him a 'mostly faithful husband', which, since he has the Romance aspiration, implies he's probably had a few affairs during his marriage to Coral.

Ah, Strangetown. A small town in the middle of nowhere, where they say strange things happen and no one ever knows if it was your mother, your father, or your mother and your father that were abducted by these strange aliens that seem to constantly pop up around the town. The inhabitants of the neighborhood are themselves rather off-the-rocker, and nothing here's ever quite as normal as they claim.

Strangetown's central theme is.. well, exactly that: Strange. The overall storyline of the town is mostly focused on the many mysteries and unusual occurrences that are connected with the various families residing in Strangetown. Unlike Pleasantview, there's no huge Love web to supplement the drama - rather, the drama itself is from the town's inherent wackiness and the town's mysterious charm.

• Cloudcuckooland: Somewhat. If you live in Strangetown, chances are you're not really that normal.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Curious siblings (with Jenny), loosely.

The Curious Family

The family of three brothers and three sisters with alien connections. Long before the events of the game, Glarn found himself abducted by aliens and had twin girls, before dumping them with his ex-wife while running off with another woman named Kitty, with whom he fathered four children: Jenny, Pascal, Vidcund and Lazlo. Today, the sons live together in a lab on top of a hill, with Pascal being abducted by aliens and carrying an alien child of his own.

• Adaptational Villainy: Vidcund in the PSP version.
• Adorkable: The brothers have weird interests, but are still likeable. Their popularity with the fanbase resulted in their ancestors being playable in The Sims 3 Ambitions.
• Agent Scully: Pascal
• Ambiguously Brown: Lazlo and Pascal have dark hair, medium skin and vaguely asian facial features, though Vidcund and Jenny somehow ended up with light skin and blonde hair.
• Brilliant, but Lazy: Lazlo has a very lazy and sloppy personality, despite this, he has the Knowledge aspiration and a well paying job in the Science career.
• Big Ol' Eyebrows: Vidcund has a really pronounced brow.
• Expy: The Curious Brothers are basically The Lone Gunmen from The X-Files and The Lone Gunmen.
• Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Chloe is the foolish to Lola's responsible.
  • Also, Vidcund, Pascal and Jenny are the responsible to Lazlo's foolish.
• Friend to All Living Things: Lazlo, due to his outgoing nature and playfulness.
• Dummied Out: The Curious siblings' grandfather Notzo wears a pair of glasses that are unavailable in-game without the use of mods.
  • Pascal's glasses can only be used on adult men by aging up a child sim with them.
• Generation Xerox: Pascal being abducted by aliens and being impregnated by one. His old man went through the same thing which lead to his divorce from his first wife.
• The Hedonist: Chloe's bio implies her to be this.
• Hot-Blooded: Vidcund, as the PSP version confirms. This is the reason why he got kicked out of being a firefighter.
• Has Two Mommies: Lola and Chloe have five parents, their human father Glarn, their alien father Pollination Technician 9, Glarn's (assumed to be) ex-wife Glabe, who raised them, Glarn's second wife and Jenny and the brothers' mother Kitty, as well as their own half sister and Pollination Tech 9's wife Jenny.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Vidcund, due to his zodiac sign putting him close to grouchy. Chloe is also quite grouchy.
• LEGO Genetics: Vidcund and especially Jenny look nothing like their siblings or ancestors. Pascal and Lazlo heavily resemble their father Glarn.
  • Lola and Chloe don't resemble their human father, for obvious reasons.
• Long-Lost Relative: It's implied Chloe and Lola are unaware of their relationship to the Curious Brothers and Jenny and vice-versa, as they do not count them as relatives.
• Love Interest: Vidcund and Lazlo towards Circe Beaker and Crystal Vu, respectively. We actually find out that Vidcund and Circe dated as teenagers, but she ultimately left him for Loki.
• Mr. Seahorse: Pascal starts off as this, and should give birth the next morning. Meanwhile, your first action upon loading this family is to get Vidcund to look into his telescope which will trigger his abduction and get him impregnated.
• Noodle Incident: Vidcund has a memory for wetting himself.. as a teenager.
• Not Blood Siblings: Inverted. Lola and Chloe are biological half-sisters to the Curious boys (as well as their sister Jenny and her kids Johnny and Jill), but the relationship isn't recognised in-game and it's implied that Jenny and her brothers don't know that their new neighbours are their long-lost sisters, or even that they have long-lost sisters. Subsequently they can date, marry, and even start a family together.
  • Johnny and Jill do recognise Lola and Chloe as their sisters, however.
• Parental Abandonment: The Curious photo album heavily implies that Glarn abandoned Lola and Chloe (along with Glabe), likely because of their origins as the spawn of an alien pregnancy. PT9 is also absent from their lives, though this seems to be the norm for Pollination Technicians.
• Polar Opposite Twins: Lola and Chloe.
• Sibling Rivalry: Implied in the PSP version, due to Vidcund abducting Pascal's child.
• Remember the New Guy?: One character introduced in the PSP version is confirmed to be a cousin of Lazlo (and thus, Jenny, Pascal and Vidcund), but he does not appear in the family tree in the PC version. He could be a descendant of Bunny, their great-aunt.
• Tangled Family Tree: Possibly the worst offenders in the franchise. Glarn Curious was married to Glabe, but was abducted and impregnated by Pollination Tech#9. He gave birth to twins, Lola and Chloe, but abandoned them and their step-mother when they were children. He then married Kitty, with whom he had four children: Jenny, Pascal, Vidcund and Lazlo. Jenny then married Pollination Tech#9, who had gone native and retired to Strangetown, and together they had two children, Johnny and Jill. This means that Jenny's children are also half-siblings to her half-sisters, and Lola and Chloe are both aunts and half-sisters to Johnny and Jill, meaning that Jenny is technically her half-sisters' step-mother. Trying to figure out whether she's therefore also an aunt-by-marriage and step-sibling to her own children at this point can induce a headache.
  • Seriously, just take a look at the family tree here◊, if your brain hasn't already exploded from the amount of confusion.

The Smith Family

Jenny Curious was lucky enough to actually marry the alien who impregnated her father. She became a mother of two children through him legally, and when the game begins, it's her oldest child's birthday. Pollination Tech#9 is also the only one in town strong enough to win a fight with Buzz Grunt, who managed to curb-stomp Jenny's younger brothers and Loki as teenagers, which triggers the family rivalry.

• Alliterative Family: Jenny, Johnny, and Jill.
• Arch-Nemesis: General Buzz Grunt is this to Pollination Tech#9.
  • Tank Grunt is one for Johnny, and they will often have a want to fight each other.
• Cool Old Guy: PT9 is one of the nicest Sims in all of Strangetown, and has a positive relationship with everybody he knows, except general Buzz.
• Gameplay and Story Segregation: Jill has no physical alien traits, which in genetic terms is incredibly rare because alien genes are very dominant.
• Gender Equals Breed: Jill has no alien features whatsoever, even though green skin and black eyes are dominant in the game.
  • Averted in the PSP version; she's got eyes in the back of her head!
• Happily Married: PT9 and Jenny adore each other, share the same aspiration goals, and have a high starting relationship.
• Humanoid Alien: Not only is PT9's race human enough to survive, and live like Sims, they are apparently similar enough that they can have children, the traditional way with normal Sims.
• Lovable Jock: Johnny
• Like Father, Like Son: PT9 and General Buzz are fierce rivals, just like their sons Johnny and Tank.
• Old Married Couple: PT9 is an elder, and Jenny is just a few short days from elderhood herself.
• Parental Abandonment: PT9 was absent from the lives of his and Glarn Curious' daughters, which seens to be the norm for pollination technicians.
  • PT9 himself has no memories of his parents, and it seems to be the norm in the alien society for the parents to not have any relationship to their mate or children.
• Ridiculously Average Guy: Despite half of them having green skin, the Smiths are generally the most normal, functional family in all of Strangetown.
• Kill It with Fire: Jill can actually set other Sims on fire in the PSP version.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Jill and Jenny look near identical when comparing adult Jill to Jenny.
• May–December Romance: Jenny and PT9, according to their memories although PT9 is implied to have met Jenny as an adult, not to mention the fact that Jenny is pretty close to becoming an elder herself.

The Beaker Family

The Beakers are a secretive and ambitious family who're willing to take some unsavoury measures in the name of Science. Poor Nervous Subject's been reduced to a gibbering wreck because of this, and he can't seem to catch a break from all the experiments they're performing on him. Circe has her sights set on a promotion, but the couple's secrecy might just prove a hindrance to her ambitions.

• Adorkable: Nervous. He's arguably Ugly Cute and a Family Sim who only receives bad treatment. Sometimes you just want to give him a hug.
• Aerith and Bob: Loki and his younger sister.. Erin.
• Ambiguously Brown: Circe. Her name and family tree suggests Greek ancestry.
  • Nervous too, even though he has pale skin, every one of his relatives are dark-skinned.
• Ambiguously Gay: Nervous' relationship with Pascal could be interpreted as this. Nervous is set as gay and flirts with Pascal when free will is on, so this seems to be canon.
  • The Beard / Hide Your Gays: Nervous has a girlfriend in the PSP version, though.
  • Bi the Way?
    • Circe is set as Bi.
• Born Unlucky: Nervous.
• Blondes Are Evil: Loki.
• Big Ol' Eyebrows: Loki's browline literally covers half of his eyes.
• Death by Adaptation: Nervous is deceased in the PSP version
• Dummied Out: Loki and Circe have memories of a different looking Nervous than the one in the household. The hidden Nervous can be found in the game files although his character data was deleted.
  • He did appear in a trailer for the game, however.
• Evil Eyebrows: Loki. In fact, his eyebrows are permanently shaped in a angry or evil expression.
• Evil Redhead: Circe.
• Face–Heel Turn: Loki in Aurora Skies is a very nice kid. But here in Strangetown? He is mean and dead serious in the name of science.
• For Science!: The couple's justification for their experiments on Nervous.
• Half-Human Hybrid: Nervous (half-human, half-Grim Reaper).
• Obviously Evil: They live in a huge castle, have permanent angry faces and are pretty much automatically mean to everyone they meet.
• Jerkass: All three of them.
• LEGO Genetics: Compare the incredibly pale and weird-looking Nervous to his mother and cousin.
• Mad Doctor: Circe.
• Mad Scientist: Loki.
• Nervous Wreck: Nervous Subject.
• Nightmare Fetishist: Circe knows 238 different ways to make people scream, implying this.
• No Name Given: Nervous Subject.
• Sibling Yin-Yang: Loki's younger sister Erin lives elsewhere in the neighbourhood, and is incredibly sweet and harmless, if a bit eccentric. Despite this, they seem to have no trouble maintaining a good relationship.
• Trademark Favorite Food: The Beaker family all love some kind of sandwich, Loki's is Grilled Cheese.
• Tragic Villain: Nervous isn't really a villain, but is still very rude and mean, which makes sense when you realize that the Beaker's experiments permanently wiped almost all of his personality.

The Specter Family

Olive Specter is known for her garden, which contains mostly gravestones implied to belong to people she murdered. She's been married many times, but almost all of her romances have ended in death. Her graveyard includes the tombstones of her own parents, her sister, her brother-in-law, her husbands and runaway fiancé, and even Lyla Grunt. She also had one child through the Grim Reaper who was taken away from her as an infant who was later taken in as the test subject of the Beaker family. When you first play as her, she is living with her niece, Ophelia.

• Ambiguously Evil: Olive is strongly hinted to have murdered all of the Sims whose graves rest in her yard, and her biography paints her in a suspicious and violent light, but ultimately it was up to the players to choose their own explanations.
  • One town in The Sims 3 features a younger Olive and offers an explanation: She didn't kill anyone, or at least not her husbands; she's just a magnet for bad luck, even having the Unlucky trait. She didn't meet the Reaper until she furiously tracked him down to call him out on the deaths of her husbands. This doesn't say anything about what happened to all the other dead people, though..
• Arch-Nemesis: Olive to Buzz Grunt, due to the latter being upset with the presumed murder of his ex-wife. Due to one of her wants being to invite him over when you first play the household, many fans believe that Olive is targeting Buzz as her next victim.
• Black Widow: Olive. She had three husbands, all of which died early.
• Creepy Aunt: Olive.
• Dark-Skinned Blonde: Ophelia Nigmos.
• Divine Date: Olive has a memory of WooHooing the Grim Reaper, and he's notably also the only person she remembers having WooHooed.
• Evil Old Folks: Apparently Olive.
• Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Olive seems to be rather kind to Ophelia, all things considered.
  • Also implied to be the case with her last husband Ichabod, who was the only Sim in her graveyard to die of natural causes. To further this theory, his grave is right next to Olive's chair.
• Facial Horror: As listed below, most Sims in Olive's graveyard are really, really buggy. As such, a lot of sims buried on her lot suffer from really nasty-looking facial corruptions, some pretty much look ready to fall apart.
• Game-Breaking Bug: The deceased Sims in Olive's graveyard are notoriously buggy, with issues ranging from mismatched ages and genders, dummied-out aspirations, and corrupted facial features. While fans have attempted to recreate a less glitched version of the cemetery that's safe to mess around with, it's considered unwise to resurrect anyone there in an unmodified Strangetown, or else risk corrupting the neighborhood.
• Grandma, What Massive Hotness You Have!: Olive is generally considered to be one of the most attractive elders in the game.
• May–December Romance: The family album indicates that Olive and Rigger Mortis married while she was an adult and he was an elder.
  • December–December Romance: The album, as well as her memories, also indicate that she married Ichabod Specter when they were both elders. Notably, he's the only Sim buried on her lot who died of old age.
• Non-Specifically Foreign: Judging by her family tree, her family comes from somewhere in subsaharan Africa, and her parents names are a mix of traditional African and Swahili names, yet her and her sister's names are European, and her house decor is Moroccan.
• Punny Name: Olive Specter, Hugh Tanasia, Earl E. DeMise, Tim Lee DeMise and Rigger Mortis.
• Self-Made Orphan: Implied, as Olive's parents died early.
• Sibling Rivalry / Cain and Abel : Implied, as Olive can actually kick her dead sister's grave and will enjoy it.
• Start of Darkness: Earl E. DeMise leaving Olive at the altar probably started her serial killings.
  • It might have started even earlier, since Olive's memories feature a pizza delivery woman that died mysteriously when she was a teenager.
• Would Hurt a Child: Some of the dead included teenagers. Maybe. (As hinted in Game-Breaking Bug, those particular Sims are actually considered adults by the game. However, their appearances suggest they might be intended to be teens.)
• Your Days Are Numbered: Olive doesn't have many days in the game before it's set to have her die of old age.

The Grunt Family

Buzz Grunt is the local General of town. His son, Tank, wants to follow in his footsteps, but his other sons Ripp and Buck show no interest in pursuing a career in the military. Buzz also has a large hatred for PT9 and his family.

• Dumbass Teenage Son: Ripp Grunt.

• Fantastic Racism: Probably the reason the General hates the alien family.
• Game-Breaking Bug: Lyla Grunt, who is buried in Olive Specter's graveyard has some faulty programming, and can cause some pretty scary glitches.
• Hidden Depths: Buzz's bio mentions that he used to enjoy barbershop quartet singing.
• Military Brat: Tank, Ripp and Buck. Buzz is implied to have been one himself as a child, since his family tree shows that his father was also a General, as was his grandfather.
• Missing Mom: Lyla disappears sometime before the game begins after divorcing Buzz. She's actually dead, and is buried in Lady Specter's garden, which explains her feud with Buzz.
• The Bully: Buzz's memories imply he was this as a teenager to the Curious Brothers and Loki. Nowadays, they're more or less acquaintances.
• Sibling Rivalry: Ripp and Tank don't get along. They don't actively hate each other, but they tend to mess with each other autonomously.
• The Slacker: Ripp, which is implied to be the reason for the tension between him and Buzz.
• The Un-Favourite: Ripp is heavily implied to be this.
• 'Well Done, Son!' Guy: The family and personal bios imply this for Tank, and possibly Buck.
• In the Blood: Looking at the family tree, it appears that it is a tradition for all Grunt men to join the military, given that Buzz's father and grandfather both appear to have been Generals.

The Loner Family

Consists solely of Ajay Loner, a newly moved in resident Ajay Loner

• The New Guy: Ajay's schtick. He is new in town, and not really used to the strangeness of Strangetown.
• Ridiculously Average Guy: Compared to everybody else in Strangetown, Ajay comes off as this.

The Loste Family

Kristen Loste, who at the start of the game, is living with Erin Beaker and the Curious Twins as part of the Singles Household.

• Small Town Boredom: Her bio says she has little interest in Strangetown and doesn't see herself saying there long
• The Generic Guy: Compared to the Curious twins, who are aliens, and Erin, who is the sister of a mad scientist.

Veronaville is an idyllic small town based off Europe. Arguably the smallest of the Pre-made base game neighborhoods in terms of population, Veronaville nonetheless has a myriad of houses located in two separate districts, one with a more classic English theme, the other a traditional Italian style.

As its name implies, Veronaville is based off Verona, the central location of Shakespeare's famous Romeo and Juliet. The storyline itself is a blatant Shout-Out to the plot: The Capps and the Montys have been feuding bitterly for years, but love and friendship has blossomed among the younger generation, something that the older clan members disapprove of. Most of the adults and elders of both families fiercely despise each other, but the teenagers and younger kids have found friendship and even love despite these complications. Caught in the middle of the conflict is the Summerdream family, who are based off Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

• Feuding Families: The Capp and Monty enmity is at the heart of the neighborhood's conflicts.
• Foil: The Capps and the Montys are this to each other; Whilst the Monty family line is patrilineal, the Capp family line is matrilineal.
• Love Triangle: Two interwoven ones among the Veronaville teens: Hermia Capp likes both Mercutio Monty and Puck Summerdream, both of whom reciprocate. Mercutio is also being crushed on by Hermia's cousin Miranda, but he doesn't return her feelings.
• Non-Specifically Foreign: The Capp side is obviously based off northern Europe and the Monty side is obviously a stand-in for Italy/southern Europe, but there is no in-game indication that Veronaville is located in a different country compared to the other neighborhoods.
• Revenge by Proxy: Implied. Many of the Capp and Monty ancestors died as adults, with no explanation given. And since the two families in question are feuding..
• Shout-Out: In addition to the obvious Romeo and Juliet references, the family trees of the Montys and the Capps both are littered with names alluding to many other plays by William Shakespeare.

The Capp Family

The Capps live on the English side of Veronaville, and to no one's surprise their bitter enemies are the Montys just across the town. It was once known that Consort was an associate of Patrizio, but no one knows what caused their friendship to end and if it can even be salvaged. Although Juliette's love for Romeo might pave the way to undoing years of resentment and hatred, Tybalt's pride and Consort's disapproval may just get in the way and prevent her from being able to bring the families together.

• Apron Matron: Contessa Capp would be this if she weren't dead. Interestingly, she may have been intended to be alive, as she's one of three deceased Sims in Veronaville to have a pre-made biography that describes her as a strong matriarch who can hold a grudge.
• Ambiguously Bi: Ariel Capp, though only a toddler at the start of the game, is notable for having positive attraction to both men and women; in practice, this will kick in when she becomes a teen.
  • Albany and Cornwall are implied to have both married for money rather than love, have a better relationship with one another and with their respective wives, and like most men in Veronaville have positive attraction to men, to the point where they may begin an affair with autonomy set to high.
• Ambiguously Gay: Kent Capp is the object of both Bianca Monty's and Titania Summerdream's crushes. However, at the start of the game he has only friendly feelings towards them, and checking with Sim PE will show that his gender preference defaults to men.
• Arch-Enemy: Patrizio Monty to Consort Capp. Hell, the entire Monty family is this to the Capps.
• Big Ol' Eyebrows: Consort, Tybalt, Kent and Cornwall all have very pronounced brows.

• Continuity Snarl: Like with the Montys, the Capp birth order was messed up in The Sims 3. The overall order is mostly intact, aside from the fact that Cordelia is not yet born by the time Roaring Heights takes place, despite the fact that she had three teenage children when she died.
• Chick Magnet: Kent. The game is clearly pushing him and Bianca but Titania Summerdream, who has a partner and kids has a crush on him as well, though he does not seem to reciprocate either one's affection.
• Cool Mask: Tybalt wears a red domino mask.
• Dead Sparks: Goneril and Albany are not in love at the start of the game, because it is implied that Albany married Goneril to have her children and/or money.
  • The same with Cornwall and Regan. Judging by Cornwall's personality and aspiration, it is quite likely that Cornwall only married Regan for money.
  • Possibly averted with Cordelia and Caliban, as they are noted to have good chemistry when resurrected.
• Deadpan Snarker: Hermia often wonders 'what sort of rock her brother Tybalt crawled out from under'.
• Dating What Daddy Hates: Juliet is dating Romeo Monty, the grandson of her father's rival. This could also become the case with Kent Capp.
  • Hermia and Miranda both show interest in Mercutio as well.
• Expy: Of the Capulet family.
• Facial Horror: Certain ancestors suffer from weird facial glitches such as long strings coming out of their jaw, as well as disturbingly large teeth and gums.
• Fiery Red Head: Tybalt
• Grey Eyes: A major trait within the Capp bloodline.
• Hot-Blooded: Tybalt, much like his namesake.
• Marriage Before Romance: It's implied that Albany and Goneril never married for love.
• My Nayme Is: Juliette's name is spelt quite differently than her namesake.
• Not So Above It All: Despite her love for Romeo, Juliette is enemies with several Montys at the start of the game.
• Love Triangle: Hermia and Miranda are both interested in Mercutio, but Miranda's feelings are unrequited.
  • At the start of the game, Hermia is also involved in one with Mercutio and Puck.
• Perma-Stubble: Tybalt and Consort both have this.
• Perky Goth: Hermia dresses in a fairly Goth way, but nothing else about her is really gloomy or goth-ish.
• Parental Abandonment: Juliette and her siblings are orphans, which is the reason why they live with their grandfather.
• Rebellious Spirit: Notably, Hermia and Miranda are the only ones not involved in the family feud and seem to even oppose it, and Miranda wants to get out of her parent's crowded home.
• Black Sheep: Kent Capp. He dosen't care about business unlike his family, has no problems with the Monty family and is in fact directly referred to as a black sheep.
• Jerkass: Consort is implied to be the main aggressor of the feud, considering the fact that Patrizio lost his job in the Business career around the time he and Consort became enemies. He is also very mean in-game with only 2 nice points.
  • Tybalt is just as mean as his grandfather personality wise, and it is implied through the family photos that he has been picking on Mercutio since they were children.
  • Albany has a tendency for this kind of behavior, considering that he has only one nice point, which is even fewer than Consort and Tybalt.
• Jerk Jock: Tybalt is very mean, and he is both physically fit and has very high body skill.
• Villainous Cheekbones: Depends on how you see things, but most Capps have ridiculously sharp features.
• We Used to Be Friends: When looking at photos and memories, it becomes clear that Consort and Patrizio Monty were best friends and colleagues before becoming bitter rivals, it is also shown that Patrizio and Consort's wife Contessa were dating at one point.
• Love Triangle: Apparently, Patrizio Monty dated Consort's wife Contessa before they got married. The possible love triangle could be the reason why the Capp and Monty families hate each other.

The Monty Family

The Montys live in a ranch on the italian side of Veronaville. Patriarch Patrizio has built up a lasting legacy, and Isabella would love nothing more than to heal old wounds, but he's too caught up in his hatred for Consort Capp that he can't fully seem to enjoy his legacy. Meanwhile, Romeo has fallen for Juliette Capp, springing up hopes of reconciliation, but time is running short for the Monty elders..

• Arch-Enemy: Consort Capp is this to Patrizio Monty.
• Ambiguously Brown: All of them have medium-dark skin and black hair.
• Big Ol' Eyebrows: Patrizio has a very thick and prominent brow.
• Casanova Wannabe: Romeo has the Romance aspiration, but his only relationship when he's first played is with Juliette.
• Continuity Snarl: A major case when it comes to the adults' ages; before The Sims 3 it was implied that Antonio was the oldest, Claudio the middle child and Bianca the youngest, as the sibling's age bars demonstrated. When Monte Vista was released, the order was changed with Bianca appearing as a child, and Antonio just a toddler. Claudio, despite having two teenage sons in The Sims 2 is not even born when Monte Vista is first played.
  • Another issue arose with the release of Monte Vista. In The Sims 2, Patrizio is close to death, and quite a few days older then Isabella, but the Monte Vista Isabella is far older than Patrizio, with only a scant few days left of adulthood.
  • A minor one when it comes to Isabella's father Vincentio, who died as an adult, yet lived long enough to see his adult grandson get married, and to add to that, is dead and an elder in The Sims 3, while said grandson isn't even born yet.
  • Young Patrizio in the family photos looks nothing like he does in The Sims 3, though it is likely the developers didn't put much thought into it, and just aged him down for that particular picture.
• Dating What Daddy Hates: Romeo is dating Juliette Capp, the heiress to a rival family. Could become he case with Bianca if she dates Kent Capp.
• Dead Sparks: Patrizio and Isabella aren't shown to be in love, likely because Patrizio is too embittered from his hatred for the Capps.

• Family Versus Career: Antonio either has to quit his well-paying job, or let the social worker take his children away, provided he doesn't hire a nanny, or if another Sim joins the household.
• First Love: Contessa Capp was this to Patrizio, which is implied to have been what started the feud.

• Infant Immortality: Averted with Olivia's unborn child.
• Missing Mom: Hero Monty, Claudio Monty and Olivia Monty.
• Parental Abandonment: Romeo and Mercutio also lost their parents at a young age, along with an unborn sibling.
• The Patriarch: Patrizio is the Monty Clan's current Patriarch.
• Related in the Adaptation: In the Shakespeare play, Mercurtio is Romeo's best friend instead of his brother.
• Sibling Switch Squick: Inverted. Beatrice and Benedick are named after the infamous romantic leads of Much Ado About Nothing, but are twin siblings (not to mention little kids) in the game.
  • Another inversion: depending on your view of the relation between best friends Romeo and Mercutio in the original play, the fact that they're brothers in the game could lead to this as well.
• Supreme Chef: Isabella has a secret recipe for the perfect baked Alaska. She also has 10 points in the cooking skill.

The Summerdream Family

The Summerdream family is heavily based upon the characters of A Midsummer Night's Dream. With their kindness and enthusiasm for life they've managed charm most of the youth into a romantic mood, but while they might be for the most part content, they themselves are missing out on a bit of the magic they've spread: Titania feels restless and wonders if she can regain the happiness she shared with her lover Oberon, Puck sees a companion in Hermia but has no idea that he has a rival in the form of his friend Mercutio, while Oberon is so busy with his job that he's begun to neglect Titania.

• Annoying Younger Sibling: Bottom seems to be this to Puck.
• Bratty Half-Pint: Bottom often gets into trouble trying to get her parents' and older brother's attention.
• Black Sheep: Puck is serious and shy, and far more active than his adoptive parents and sister.
• Continuity Snarl: Oberon and Titania show up in The Sims 3: Supernatural as adults, about 50 years before The Sims 2 takes place.
  • Justified, however in that Oberon and Titania are (or at least were) fairies;^note supernatural life states in TS3 come with the added perk of massively slowed-down ageing.
• Expy: Of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
• Facial Markings: Every Summerdream member bar Bottom has face paint on them. This does not extend to deceased ancestors, however.
• Fan Disservice: One of Oberon's elderly ancestors wears a hula outfit that leaves very little to the imagination.
• The Hedonist: Oberon and Titania love to party.
• The Fair Folk: Implied. It's said that they've 'cast a romantic spell over Veronaville's' youth. Their namesakes are also fair folk themselves. The versions of Oberon and Titania that appear in The Sims 3 are canonically fairies, thanks to this life state being added in the Supernatural expansion.
• Happily Adopted: Puck and Bottom.
• Hufflepuff House: They're neutral in the feud between the Capps and the Montys, being friendly with both sides.
• Love Triangle: Puck is in one with Hermia Capp and Mercutio Monty. When you first play the Summerdream family you're encouraged to immediately have Puck have his first kiss with Hermia, which will cause Mercutio to get jealous since he's standing right next to them.
  • There's also a lopsided one between Oberon, Titania, and Kent Capp, and another between Titania, Kent, and Bianca Monty.
• Pointy Ears: Every family member (dead ancestors and adopted kids included) have these.
• Unknown Rival: Mercutio and Puck are friends, but they aren't aware that they're both after Hermia.
• Dead Sparks: Implied, it is said that Oberon has given his partner little attention due to work. Also, Oberon and Titania's relationship isn't great.
• Your Cheating Heart: The family bio implies that Titania is thinking about cheating on Oberon with Kent due to his lack of attention to her. Though Kent usually rebuffs her if she actually tries.

The prestigious Sim State University prides itself on its intellectual prowess and for producing many brilliant Alumni over the years. This university Subhood is commonly regarded by Fanon as the canonical university for Pleasantview. There are three playable households to chose from, as well as three other households in the family bin: The Tri-Var Sorority and Urele-Oresha-Cham Fraternity, and the Bright, Freshman, Phoenix, and Swain households. This sub-neighborhood is only available with The Sims 2: University.

The story of SSU focuses mostly on the lives of the three campus households living there. The Tri-Var sorority wants to expand, but they're having trouble finding willing pledges, the Bright household wants to get away from the craziness of campus life but fears boredom and loneliness, and the Urele-Oresha-Cham Fraternity wants to keep its prestigious reputation, but its members find themselves in a dilemma over their drastically different personalities.

• Betty and Veronica: Heather is the Archie to Martin's Betty and Castor's Veronica. Conversely, Castor is the Archie to Tiffany and Allegra's Betty and Heather and Brittany's Veronica.
• Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Martin is the responsible sibling to Joshua's foolish.
• Four-Philosophy Ensemble:
  • Castor Nova is the Realist.
  • Kevin Beare is the Optimist.
  • Joshua Ruben is the Conflicted.
  • Ashley Pitts is the Cynic.
• Light Feminine Dark Feminine: Allegra (Dark) and Jane (Light).
• Love Dodecahedron: In the same vein as Pleasantview. All of it can be traced back to Castor Nova, whom almost every playable female student (except Jane Stacks) has a crush on.
• Nice Mean And Inbetween: Tiffany is nice, Brittany is mean, and Heather is somewhere inbetween.
• Two Girls and a Guy: The Bright household, without the childhood part.

The Tri-Var Sorority

As the only Sorority on campus, the Tri-Var sorority takes great pride in being a lavish Greek house. Unfortunately, they can't seem to find anymore people wanting to join, as potential canditates are often intimidated by the Queen Bee Brittany and up-and-coming maneater Heather. Only Tiffany seems to be the only sane person among the trio.

• Alpha Bitch: Brittany is described as a popular bitchy girl but she is mean mostly due to her insecurities and a desire to be liked, since no one wants to spend time with her.
• Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Debatable on the 'drinking' part, since The Sims 2 universe doesn't appear to have any kinds of alcohol, but Heather definently loves to party.
• It's All About Me: Brittany appears to be the most self-centered of the Sorority.
• Only Sane Woman: Good lord, poor Tiffany. She has to deal with an egocentric, insecure Jerkass and a careless, lazy maneater. Her bio also states that she doesn't 'like to make waves' and that she enjoys keeping things calm at the Sorority.
• Single Girl Seeks Most Popular Guy: All of them want Castor Nova. It's a ripe setup for house drama. Whoever ends up getting him is up to the player. Or you could pair him up with either Allegra Gorey or Jane Stacks.
• Unknown Rival: Allegra Gorey dislikes all of them, but only Tiffany doesn't seem to be aware of her ill feelings towards them. Consequently, all the girls are this to each other regarding Castor Nova.

The Urele-Oresha-Cham Fraternity

Frat brothers Castor, Joshua, Kevin, and Ashley live together in a spacious mansion. Castor is the Cool Guy on campus that every girl wants, Kevin is the quintessential Nice Guy and cuddle bear of the bunch, Joshua is the bumbling college student with no clear lifegoals, and Ashley is the self-centered Casanova WannabeJerkass.

• All Guys Want Sorority Women: Joshua's easily distracted by the Sorority girls.
• Ambiguously Brown: Joshua
• Ambiguously Jewish: Joshua Ruben has Jewish or Hebrew first and last names.
• Overshadowed by Awesome: The other brothers can't seem to match Castor's popularity on campus.
• Be Yourself: Castor 'marches to the beat of his own drum.'
• Big Man on Campus: Castor Nova. Christ, every playable female student (with the notable exception of Jane Stacks) has a crush on him.
• Book Dumb: Joshua is implied to be this.
• Casanova Wannabe: Since Ashley has the romance aspiration and is described as self-centered, it wouldn't be hard to imagine him attempting to unsucessfully woo ladies. Depending on the player's interpretation, this could put him in the position of being jealous of Castor's success as a Chick Magnet and/or his Unknown Rival.
• Clueless Chick Magnet: Castor Nova. He has no idea that half the campus has the hots for him.
• Distracted by the Sexy: A major reason for why Joshua can't decide what major he wants to study. (Alongside pizza, apparently.)
• Fratbro: Joshua is the stereotypical frat member.
• Gender-Blender Name: Ashley Pitts.
• It's All About Me: Ashley spends an awful amount of time staring at himself in the mirror, according to his biography.
• Jerkass: Ashley, like Brittany, has only one point in niceness.
• Nice Guy: Kevin Beare. His biography describes him as the 'nice guy who just can't seem to get the girl'.

The Bright Household

The Bright Household banded together to get away from the crazy campus life and have some peace and quiet. Sadly, they can't always avoid being permanently isolated from the silly drama and shenanigans that often encompases College life, but they still hope to have a solid college experience.

• Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Allegra looks down on the Tri-Var Sorority and generally acts more reserved than her other two housemates.
• Ambiguously Jewish: Martin has a Jewish surname.
• Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Martin is the responsible sibling to Joshua's foolish sibling.
• Goth: Allegra Gorey.
• Light Feminine Dark Feminine: Allegra (Dark) and Jane (Light).
• Nerd: Martin is described as one, as he has posters of aliens hung up on his bedroom and his interests lean strongly towards the Paranormal and Sci-Fi.
• Single Girl Seeks Most Popular Guy: Allegra has a crush on Castor Nova, unsurprisingly. Averted in the case of Jane, although strangely enough, her biography implies that she might fall for him in the near future.

La Fiesta Tech is a college located within the desert. Fanon often regards it as the canon university for Strangetown, although it can be attached to any neighborhood. Like Sim State University, the story of the neighborhood has no central plot tying it together, and each household has its own plot.

Living on Campus is the Tri-Fruhm Sorority, the Oresha-Hoh-Var Fraternity, a local Garage Band named The Shifting Paradymes, and the uptight Francis J. Worthington III.

This subneighborhood is available with The Sims 2: University.

• Distaff Counterpart/Spear Counterpart: The Fraternity and Sorority of La Fiesta Tech are this to the ones in Sim State University - Oresha-Hoh-Var is Tri-Var's male counterpart, and Tri-Fruhm is Urele-Oresha-Cham's female counterpart.

Tri-Fruhm Sorority

The Tri-Fruhm Sorority is known as one of the coolest houses to join - And with good reason. The sisters are quite chill in their own ways, but with so many events to show up to, they worry over being able to complete their studies, and to top it off, Jessica Pilferson is showing interest in Sarah's boyfriend, Matthew.

• Country Mouse: Sarah came from a small town to a big campus.
• High-School Sweethearts: Sarah Love and Matthew Hart apparently were this before they came to college.
• Hypocrite: Monica is a political activist who protests against deforestation and animal testing for cosmetics.. while handing out stacks of fliers and free make-up samples.
• It's All About Me: Implied in DJ's biography. The biography describes her as creative and talented - but she's only staying in the Sorority until she can find a place of her own. Sarah Love is her only friend in the Sorority.
• Love Triangle: Jessie has a crush on Matthew Hart, but he's dating her housemate Sarah Love.
• Nerd Glasses: Monica has them. They're exclusive to her and will be lost if you remove them.
• Passionate Sports Girl: Jessie wants to become a professional sports star.
• Punny Name: Jessie Pilferson. As she has a crush on Sarah's boyfriend Matthew and has the romance aspiration, this implies she might want to steal him away from her.
• Tomboyish Name: DJ Verse isn't your typical girl name.

Oresha-Hoh-Var Fraternity

The Oresha-Hoh-Var Fraternity is the only Frat house on Campus and is inhabited by Guy Wrightley, Matthew Hart, and Mickey Dosser. It was founded by Guy's great-grandfather decades ago and holds high academic standards, but no one knows if Guy can keep up with his Frat legacy or get too distracted by frat life.

• The Ace: Guy seems to be this.
• Country Mouse: Like his girlfriend Sarah, Matthew came from a small town.
• Fat Slob: Mickey is fat and very sloppy.
• Held Back in School: When you first play the Oresha-Hoh-Var Fraternity Mickey is on Academic Probation and would actually be in his second semester of Freshman year.
• High-School Sweethearts: Matthew and his girlfriend Sarah seem to be this.
• Lazy Bum: Mickey Dosser
• Love Triangle: Matthew is unknowingly in one with Jessie and his girlfriend Sarah.
• Nice Guy: Matthew seems to be this among the trio.
• Punny Name: Guy Wrightley hints at Guy being a litertaure major, Matthew Hart for his status as The Heart among the group, and Mickey Dosser hints at his lazy nature.
• The Slacker: Mickey has no motivation to work seriously at all. When you first play the Fraternity he's already on Academic Probation (And the only pre-made college Sim to actually be on Academic Probation) but has passed the bare minimum required to move on to his second semester of Freshman year. He also has the Undeclared Major.

The Shifting Paradymes

The Shifting Paradymes are a Rock Trio consisting of Roque Gunnar, Jasmine Rai, and Zoe Zimmerman. They live in their own house on campus. While they dream of creating wonderful music, Gunnar's up in arms about his own awesomeness, and Zoe's first and foremost devotion is to her studies. Jasmine's been dreaming of being a musician, which is why she founded the band, but nowadays she mostly spends her time trying to keep the band together.

• Casanova Wannabe: Roque can't seem to understand why his two female bandmates aren't squabbling over him.

Académie Le Tour is a college sub-neighbourhood made available with The Sims 2: University. Fanon often regards it as the canonical university for Veronaville, although it can be attached to any neighbourhood. While similar in many ways to Sim State University and La Fiesta Tech, there are a few subtle differences: primarily, there are no pre-made sororities or fraternities at the college, strengthening the popular notion that it is linked to the European-themed Veronaville (in Europe, Greek Houses are not a common part of the university system) as opposed to the more American-themed college towns usually associated with Pleasantview and Strangetown.

There are six households at the college when first played: three (the Sharpe, O'Feefe, and Friends households) are already moved in, and another three (the Biggs, Students, and First Year household) are in the family bin. As with other sub-neighbourhoods in The Sims 2, there is little overarching plot, though some drama is created by siblings Edwin and Roxie Sharpe and their respective love interests, Delilah O'Feefe and Jonah Powers.

• Cool School: Académie Le Tour is implied to be a very prestigious school, and its name and architecture wouldn't look too out of place in Europe (in particular France).
• Everyone Is Bi: Several Sims on campus do not have a set gender preference if examined in Sim PE.

  • Roxie is Sanguine.
  • Jonah is Choleric.

Sharpe household

The Sharpe household is made up of two siblings, Roxie and Edwin Sharpe, as well as Roxie's boyfriend, Jonah Powers. Roxie and Jonah are hobbyist musicians in their free time and popular on campus, but Roxie finds herself horribly embarassed by her younger, dorkier brother Edwin, who wants nothing more but to move out of his sister's pad. It certainly doesn't help that he and Jonah do not get along well at all, and Roxie is faced with the choice of siding with either her boyfriend or her brother.

• Adorkable: Edwin is fairly nice and dorky to boot, and his shyness serves to make him endearing.
• All Girls Want Bad Boys: Jonah has Roxie as a girlfriend, and his in-game biography states that everyone on campus wants to hang out with him. Presumably this also includes the ladies.
• Annoying Younger Sibling: Edwin is at last a year younger than Roxie judging by their respective stages in their college career, and Roxie certainly seems to view him as this.
• Aloof Big Sister: Roxie is only mere acquaintances with her younger brother Edwin and claims to be 'tolerant' of him.
• Arch-Enemy: What Edwin and Jonah's relationship inevitably turns into when left to their own devices. Their relationship is already rather strained when first played and Jonah, being the Jerkass that he is, will likely initiate hostile interactions autonomously. Edwin is too much of a Nice Guy to fight back if he's bullied.
• Cool People Rebel Against Authority: In-Universe, Jonah and Roxie are said to be quite popular around Campus.
• Give Geeks a Chance: Edwin has a crush on Delilah O'Feefe, and seems to hope that this trope will come into fruitition.
• Guys Are Slobs: Jonah is one of the worst offenders with only one point in Neatness. Inverted by Edwin, who is very neat in contrast.
• Foil: Edwin and Jonah are diametrically opposed in personality, appearance, and interests:

• Noodle Incident: The family bio states that Roxie resents having her dorky younger brother coming to live with her at college; what's not clear is why they're sharing a house at all if they can't stand each other, since housing at Simlish universities is pretty affordable, and he could easily have gone to live in one of the many on-campus dorms.
• Punk: Roxie and Jonah's fashion choices lean heavily towards a grungy punk palette, and they're presumably also heavily into the genre.

Mitch Indie and Max Flexor are two best friends who've recently decided to move in together after meeting on the first school day and striking up a friendship. Mitch loves innovation and is fairly popular around campus, while Max aspires to be like Mitch and absorb some of his 'cool' vibes. Now that they're living together, one wonders what they might discover as they deal with the ups and downs of college life.

• Ambiguously Gay: When the household is first played, both Mitch and Max, like a few other sims in Academié Le Tour, do not have a set gender preference. The household description throws even more fuel onto the fire by speculating whether the two might.. discover something about themselves.
• Bookworm: Max lists reading among his hobbies.
• Cool-Kid-and-Loser Friendship: Max's hobbies are reading and cooking, and it's said that he's trying to absorb some of Mitch's 'cool' vibes, pointing towards this trope being in play. Mitch is also Max's only friend on campus.
• Experimented in College: Implied to be a possible outcome of their plotline. The household description vaguely aludes to the pair discovering something new about their friendship. Whether this holds true or not is up to the player.
• Hipster: Mitch is described as a true hipster.
• Overshadowed by Awesome: Max is implied to feel like this towards Mitch to some degree.
• Punny Name: Mitch Indie and Max Flexor. Amusingly enough, if you swap the vowels in Max and Mitch's names, you get Mix and Match.

O'Feefe household

Delilah O'Feefe came to Académie Le Tour to get an art degree and some peace and quiet. Living alone has so far been a blast for her - no annoying roommates, no college drama to deal with, and an entire house all to herself, although she has lately been getting attention from the strange geek-next-door..

• Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She may not be pale like most examples, but Delilah is described as being aloof in her biography and has dark hair, so she technically falls under this trope.
• Cool Shades: Sports a pair of orange-tinted sunglasses.
• Friendless Background: Downplayed. Delilah isn't absolutely friendless but she doesn't like socializing with others frequently.
• Give Geeks a Chance: Edwin Sharpe has a crush on her. You as the player can choose whether to fulfill this trope or defy it.
• Ice Queen: Said to prefer paintings to people.
• Identical Stranger: She shares one of the default female face templates with Cassandra Goth.
• Only Sane Woman: Implied. It's not outright stated but her household biography states that she does not want to deal with the drama of having roommates, which implies that she may see herself as this compared to the rest of the Académie Le Tour cast.
• The Quiet One: Has three points in Outgoingness, meaning that she's far more likely to spend her time reading a book or writing in a diary than socializing with others.

Bluewater Village is a shopping district sub-hood that shipped with The Sims 2: Open for Business. There are five families already moved into the town, along with the Gieke and Larson families in the family bin (see the family bin tab for information on them). Bluewater Village doesn't have a long neighborhood story, as the main idea is for the residents to make money and expand their businesses. The community lots are all designed to be run as owned businesses.

The Delarosa Household

The Delarosa Household consists of one sim; Florence Delarosa, who runs a flower shop out of her house called Delarosa's Flowers. She's said to be shy, but that could just be because she's new to the neighbourhood and has been too busy setting up her shop to make friends.

• Caring Gardener: She has a flower garden, and she has a good amount of Nice points.
• Feminine Women Can Cook: According to her household description, Florence's pasta dishes are famous.
• Floral Theme Naming / Meaningful Name: Florence is derived from a Latin word meaning 'to blossom', and Delarosa can mean 'of the rose'. She runs a flower shop.

The Jacquet Household

The Jacquet Household is made up of elder Denise Jacquet and her grown son Gilbert. Together they own the J'Adore Bakery, which Gilbert inherited from his father, Yves, after his death.

• Everyone Looks Sexier If French: The Jacquets are implied to be French, and Gilbert has the Romance aspiration, meaning he wants to date and Woo-Hoo as many Sims as possible.
• Gratuitous French: The family bakery is named 'J'Adore', which is French for 'I adore'.
• Love Triangle: Gilbert is crushing on two of his female employees at the bakery, Breanna Custer and Trina Dalton (all townies in Bluewater Village have randomised names, these are just their canon names). However, only Breanna returns Gilbert's feelings.
• My Beloved Smother: Denise is implied to be this towards Gilbert.
• The Mourning After: Denise is a widow, but a glitch in her memories makes her not remember Yves' death. So, if she happens to interact romantically with another Sim, she will get a memory of cheating on Yves. This gives the impression that Denise is not ready to move on.

Malcolm Landgraab IV is one of the many Malcolm Landgraabs appearing in the Sims series, but he's the first one to appear in a main series PC game.

The Ramirez Household

A three person household consisting of Checoleín 'Checo' and Lisa Ramirez and their young daughter Tessa. The family owns a furniture store called 'Ramirez's Fine Furniture'.

• Dead Guy Junior: Tessa is possibly named after her paternal grandmother, Theresa Ramirez, who has passed away before the beginning of the game.
• Dead Sparks: Checo and Lisa only have a mediocre relationship score.
• Good Parents: Both Checo and Lisa are best friends with their daughter Tessa.
• Spicy Latina: Seems to be Averted with both Lisa and Tessa.

The Tinker Household

The Tinker household is made up of parents Stephen and Wanda Tinker - who dream of opening a toy shop out of their house - and their teen daughter Melody.

• Wacky Parent, Serious Child: This trope pretty much describes the Tinker family to a T. Wanda and Stephen are very childish, while their daughter Melody is serious and studious.

A rural town that ships with the Seasons Expansion Pack and functions as a test neighborhood for seasonal functions and activities. There are a total of seven families who reside in the neighbourhood - the Roths, a clear Expy of the Goths, the Viejos, the O'Mackeys, the Wans, the Greenmans, as well as Leod McGreggor and Alexandra O'Mackey, the latter of whom can be found in the family bin.

While there is no central plot to tie all the various families together, every playable family has some connection to one another, and there is plentiful of implied backstory to explain the circumstances behind some of the Sims' tense relationships. Riverblossom Hills itself is a small, idyllic countryside town that sees cold winters and mild, brief periods of warmth in spring, though its rural charm may not be enough to dispel the bad blood between some of its inhabitants. • Arcadia: Riverblossom Hills is an idyllic and peaceful country town.
• Arch-Enemy: Sandra Roth and Jules O'Mackey are enemies at the start of the game. While it's not explicitly stated what caused this enmity, it's hinted that it started with Jacob Martin, who Sandra is currently dating, and who Jules used to date. A popular fan interpretation is that Sandra may have used Relationship Sabotage to get Jules and Jacob to break up, although this is contradicted by the fact that Sandra and Jacob met after Jules and Jacob broke up. Another possible interpretation is that Jules simply finds Sandra obnoxious, considering Sondra's penchant for constantly talking about Jacob.
• Betty and Veronica: Leod is the Archie to Catherine and Betty's Betty and Cleo's Veronica. Oddly enough, there's no hint of any crushes in-game despite the fact that all three women's biographies mention interest in Leod.
• Hidden Elf Village: A population of PlantSims lives in an undisclosed location somewhere in Riverblossom Hills. Jason and Gabe O'Mackey were the first ones to discover them.
• Scot Ireland: Leod McGreggor is implied to be Scottish, judging by his last name and manner of dressing. The O'Mackeys are implied to be Irish by ancestry, and the aesthetic of the town itself suggests that it might be located somewhere on the British Isles.
• Seasonal Baggage: Of a sort. The town description implies that things may get ugly in the coming winter.
• Tomboy and Girly Girl: Sandra is the Tomboy, and Jules is the Girly Girl. They both hate each other.

The Greenman Family

Consisting of Jason Greenman and his PlantSim wife and step-daughter, Rose and Daisy. Jason and his brother, Gabe O'Mackey, apparently found Rose along with a colony of PlantSims in the hills that gave the neighbourhood their name, and it was love at first sight for Jason and Rose.

• Happily Adopted: Jason is technically Daisy's adopted father, since PlantSims reproduce asexually and, according to memories, he and Rose met after Daisy was born. Though there's no formal in-game adoption of a spouse's child and so they have no line on the family tree, their strong relationship in-game hints at this.
• The Maiden Name Debate: Implied. Greenman is Rose's family name and Jason apparently had to take it as a condition of marrying her, though he seems to not mind it.
• Plant Person: Rose and Daisy
• Rapid Aging: As a Plantsim, Daisy will go straight from toddler to adult.

The Viejo Household

Following the death of their good friend, Linda Martin, elders Catherine Viejo and Betty Goldstein, moved into her house to help her son and grandson. Together, they have formed their own family unit.

• Absurdly YouthFul Father: Andrew Martin, when first played, is in the early days of his adulthood but has a teenage son. Though this could imply teenage parentage, this is impossible in-game and contradicted by the family photos.
• Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: A variant wherein it's not a parent that's embarassing, but rather, a girlfriend. It's implied that Sandra's obnoxious attitude and constant gushing over Jacob is making the young man doubt his decision to date her.

• Cool Aunt: Catherine is this to her niece, Cleo.
• Honorary Aunt: Betty and Catherine to Andrew and Jacob

• Non-Specifically Foreign: His actual country is never stated, though most people assume it's Scotland due to his name and clothing.

The Wan Household

Best friends Patricia Wan and Cleo Shikibu moved to the town after Cleo's aunt, Catherine, offered them her old house. Both are beginning to settle into the town,however, and form connections.

• Multiethnic Name: Both of them have one.
• The City vs. the Country: The girls were originally working in the city before coming to rural Riverblossom.
• Wicked Stepmother: Due to her poor relationship with her new boyfriend's daughter, Patricia could become this.

The Roth Family

A wealthy family recently moved to Riverblossom Hills from the city. The move was apparently just what the family needed, though it's done little to repair The Roths' marriage.

• Attention Whore: Downplayed with Sandra. She's very loud and doesn't hesitate to tell people what she's thinking.
• The City vs. the Country: Stella is apparently restless from moving to such a small town.
• Deconstructive Parody: Of the Goths. Morty and Xander are pretty similar to Mortimer and Alexander, Stella has fallen out of love with Morty, as opposed to Mortimer and Bella's strong marriage; Sandra being described as loud and boisterous in contrast the quiet, mysterious Cassandra.
• Girlish Pigtails: Sandra has them braided.
• Smitten Teenage Girl: Sandra apparently can't stop talking about Jacob now that they're dating.

The O'Mackey Family

The Contrary Family

Consisting of married couple Opal and Edward Contrary, who wish to become closer to their teenage son, Rick.

Famous for its statue of Bella Goth, it features several apartment lots alongside the usual residential and commercial lots.

The Peterson Family

The Gieke Family

Consisting solely of Chester Gieke. Born into a family of introverted scientists, he wonders if he can break the mold of his family. Installed with Bluewater Village as part of the Open for Business expansion, but he can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Meaningful Name: Chester's surname, Gieke, sounds like 'geek' and Chester is shown to be interested in robotics and computers. He is also a Knowledge Sim.

The Larson Family

Jodie and Jason Larson are twins who recently moved out and wish to build a business together. Installed with Bluewater Village as part of the Open for Business expansion, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Big Sister Bully: The family and personal bios imply Jodie will try to push her brother around for the sake of their business.
• Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Jodie is said to be ambitious and takes charge of things, while Jason is said to be carefree.
• Sibling Seniority Squabble: Jodie feels its her duty to be in charge as the elder twin, despite it only being by three minutes.

The Crittur Family

Two dogs, Sarah and Danny, who came together to face the problems of being strays and are now happy to have a home of their own.

• But Thou Must!: A minor example; there is no way, without cheats, to play them unless they are merged with another household.
• Game-Breaking Bug: Sarah's pregnancy, due to an error in the Sim Bin, is corrupted and allowing her to give birth sometimes causes corruption of the neighborhood or crashing of the game.

Ottomas Family

A large family consisting of married couple, Peter and Samantha, their three children and Peter's mother, Dora. Samantha is currently pregnant with a set of twins. Installed with Riverblossom Hills as part of the Seasons expansion, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Game-Breaking Bug: An infamous one. Like Sarah Crittur, Samantha's pregnancy is bugged, and if her twins are born, it is possible Peter will not be their father. Instead, they will receive a random Sim as the father, which could be anything from another woman, to a child to a pet or even a Sim who is in another neighborhood entirely. This causes a corruption so deep the entire neighborhood will have to be reset. Though a later patch addresses this, it will not help if the family has already been put into a neighborhood.
• Granny Classic: Dora Ottomas, who is said to enjoy caring for others and is a comfort to Samantha in rearing her children.
• Massive Numbered Siblings: Peter and Samantha have three children but are expecting two more, and Dora's lifetime wish would require them to have a sixth.

The Ramaswami Family

A husband and wife, Sanjay and Priya. Both having dreams of pursuing successful careers, in music and writing respectively. Installed with Riverblossom Hills as part of the Seasons expansion, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Family Versus Career: Priya worries about balancing her career ambitions once she has children.

The Traveller Family

A former lawyer, Trent quit his job to go around the world with his wife, Trish and daughter Tina.

The Picaso Family

A newlywed couple, Matthew and Jessica. Installed with Desiderata Valley as part of the Free Time expansion, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Battle Couple: they're both athletic and in the military

The Cooke Family

A struggling chef, Julien, who moved away from his old home after losing his recipe to a rival. Installed with Desiderata Valley as part of the Free Time expansion pack, but he can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Meaningful Name: Both Julien's surname and his rival's name, Zebest Quizine.
• Pointy Ears: Often going unnoticed, Julien has slightly pointy ears, though not to the extent of the Veronaville Summerdreams.

The Goodie Family

An elderly couple, Faith and Herbert, who are traveling following their retirement. Installed with Belladonna Cove as part of the Apartment Life expansion pack, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: For Herb and Coral Oldie from the base game. Herb and Herbert even share their first name, while their surnames combine to form the phrase 'an oldie but a goodie'.

The Gavigan Family

A married couple, Nathan and Mary, who have moved to a new town with their son, Isaiah. Installed with Belladonna Cove as part of the Apartment Life expansion pack, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

The Newson Family

A family consisting of two teens, two children, and two toddlers who lost their parents and now struggle to stay together. Installed with Belladonna Cove as part of the Apartment Life expansion pack, but they can be placed in any neighbourhood.

• Don't Split Us Up: They chose staying together and living as a family rather than returning to foster care and splitting up
• Foster Kid: They all were this at one point.
• Half-Identical Twins: Garrett and Georgia, the twin toddlers who are the only biological siblings in the family, seem to have identical genetics, with only their respective genders accounting for any differences.
• Happily Adopted: They were this, until they lost their adoptive mother.
• Missing Mom: Their adoptive mother, Gloria, is dead for unknown reasons.

The Kat Family

A family consisting of Tara Kat and her three pet cats.

• Former Child Star: Justin Kim

The Goth Family

Mortimer Goth appears here as a child, living with his middle-aged parents, Gunther and Cornelia, and a whole lot of ghosts.

• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Gunther's sister Frida is nowhere to be found this time around.
  • Averted, however when Frida reappears with her uncle Samuel in Moonlight Falls from The Sims 3: Supernatural.
• Childhood Friend Romance: Mortimer and Bella Bachelor are best friends in-game. Canonically, they get married in adulthood.
• Cute Ghost Girl: Lolita Goth, who's buried in the graveyard at the back of the house. Unlike the other ghosts in the house, who are all parents and grandparents of Gunther and Cornelia, her exact connection to the family is unclear. She's also a young adult, while all the other ghosts are elders, and is indeed very cute-looking. Fanon often regards her as Gunther's first wife and The Lost Lenore, which might in turn account for his poor relationship with his wife (see below).
• Dead Sparks: Gunther and Cornelia are married and have a high enough relationship to count as friends, but aren't close enough to WooHoo or even engage in some lower-scoring romantic interactions, and it will take some time for the player to raise their relationship score high enough. (This isn't helped one bit by Cornelia's Unflirty trait, which basically makes it extremely difficult to get her into any kind of romantic STC.) They even appear to have separate bedrooms.
• Goth: It shows a lot more in this game with dark purple top hats, long dresses with a black and white shirt and a ton of eyeliner.
• Guyliner: For Gunther, though it's understandable why he has it considering his gothic hair and clothes.
• Older Than They Look: Gunther and Cornelia are middle-aged yet looks like twenty-years old when it comes to their faces.
• Perky Goth: Though at a lower level. Gunther, Mortimer and Cornelia are all friendly but also gloomy and a bit grumpy.
• Spin-Off Babies: Mortimer, one of the most popular characters in the series, appeared as a grown man with a wife and child in The Sims and an elderly widower in The Sims 2. In this prequel, he's an elementary school kid, alongside his future wife and a few of their adulthood acquaintances.

The Bachelor Family

The future Mrs Bella Goth appears here as a child, alongside her parents and teenage brother, Michael.

• Childhood Friend Romance: Bella and Mortimer Goth are best friends in-game, and canonically will get married when they reach adulthood.
• Lovable Jock: While Michael certainly is a jock, he is still quite a nice guy.
• Perky Goth: Bella's bedroom decor hints at her interest in the gothic (foreshadowing her future marriage to Mortimer), but her outfits are all brightly coloured pinks and reds, and she's a very cheery and popular little girl.
• Retcon: Previous games had hinted that Bella's family were somewhat supernatural, with the Bustin' Out spin-off from the first game outright stating that her ancestors were all 'occultists, mystics and decadents', and the Makin' Magic expansion to the PC original all but stating she's a witch. In this game, they're an extremely vanilla middle-class family, the only concession being Bella's bedroom decorated with gothic wallpaper and bedspread.
• Spin-Off Babies: Bella is a child in this prequel, which can be considered a bit of a Fan Disservice considering her iconic status as a sexy, mysterious adult woman in most of the other games.
  • Michael might also count, though he's a teen and his time-line in the series is much less clear than Bella's, with his The Sims 1 appearance only in his early twenties, despite the nominal 25-year time-skip. Fanon often gets around this by considering the TS1 Michael the son of the TS2/3 Michael(s), which would put this trope into effect for him as well.

The Langerak Family

An up-and-coming middle class family consisting of workaholic mother Iliana, stay-at-home dad Dustin, teenage son and aspiring ladies' man Parker, and Legacy Character and compulsively neat daughter Kaylynn. Rounding off the family is Zelda Mae, Iliana's plant-obsessed younger sister.

• Ascended Extra: Kaylynn Langerak was an NPC maid with a minor story role in Pleasantview in The Sims 2. In the prequel, she's a playable character with an extended family in tow consisting of parents, older brother and maternal aunt.
• Sibling Triangle: Many players have noted the tendency of Dustin and Zelda to roll wants to flirt with each other, despite being siblings-in-law. This, coupled with Dustin and Iliana's reatively low starting relationship score, can easily become a full-blown example of this trope.
• Sibling Yin-Yang/Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Zelda and Iliana, respectively. They even look disparate, with Zelda having long, loose blonde hair and dressing in loud prints, while Iliana has black hair in a tight bun and dresses very conservatively in pale suits. Kaylynn and Parker also. While Kaylynn loves to clean and later becomes a maid, Parker is the slob responsible for most messes Kaylynn cleans up.
• Two First Names: Zelda Mae. 'Mae' is actually her surname, and presumably Iliana's maiden name as well. Even the creators sometimes forget and refer to her as 'Zelda Mae Langerak' by mistake.

The Alto Family

A less than decent set of rich parents and a kind-hearted daughter.

• Abusive Parents: Due to their personalities, Nick and Vita are prone to insulting their daughter.
• The Big Guy: Not only is Nick fat, he is also extremely muscular, making him one of the largest Sims in the game.
• Card-Carrying Villain: Vita has Evil as one of her traits.
• Corrupt Corporate Executive: Nick certainly isn't the most honorable businessman in town.
• Corrupt Politician: Vita is one.
• Fat Bastard: Nick is fat, and he is certainly not nice.
• It Runs in the Family: Averted; Holly looks nothing like her parents, has completely different goals and a very different personality.
• Villain with Good Publicity: The Altos have a surprisingly good reputation considering their motives and personalities.
• Wacky Parent, Serious Child: While Nick and Vita has spent huge amounts of money on flashy and pointless stuff, Holly dresses, acts and even has her room decorated as any suburban teenage girl.
• Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Nick is aquaphobic, and will loudly complain if made to have a bath.

The Landgraab Family

A wealthy family consisting of the friendly doctor Geoffrey, his socialite wife Nancy and their little son Malcolm.

• From Nobody to Nightmare: Averted with Malcom in this installment. Since he first appears here as an unassuming child, it would initially appear that he would undergo a (possibly player-induced) Start of Darkness that would make him the Corrupt Corporate Executive seen in The Sims: Bustin' Out. However, Malcom here has the 'Good' trait, making it impossible for him to truly follow the path of evil. This is reinforced in the console-exclusive Moonlight Bay neighborhood, where he's fully grown, and has left the family business to become a local representative for the neighborhood. His Sims 4incarnation brings his personality closer to that of Bustin' Out, making him out to be a Card-Carrying Villain that aspires to be the 'Public Enemy'.
• The Maiden Name Debate: Averted. Geoffrey took Nancy Landgraab's name when they married.
• Missing Mom: Since Nancy's mother died as a young adult, it can be assumed that she died early in Nancy's life.
• Turn Out Like His Father: It is often suggested that Malcolm aspires to follow his father into the medical business.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Nancy and her mother have similar clothes and hairstyles, suggesting that Nancy may dress the way she does to honor her mother.
• Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Geoffrey is a bit of a joker, while Malcolm is a bit more serious and introverted.
• Younger Than They Look: Geoffrey looks quite young except for his old-timey suit.

The Alvi Family

A poorer family consisting of single dad Iqbal and his two sons, VJ and Miraj.

• Big Ol' Unibrow: Iqbal has one,
• Jerkass: VJ, especially where his old man is concerned.
• Missing Mom: Exactly what happened to Mrs. Alvi, if Iqbal was ever married, isn't said, but she's not around anymore.

The Andrews Family

A middle class married couple. Sensitive reporter Victoria does all the work while her husband Beau stays at home.

• Expy: Of the Newbie family.
• I Coulda Been a Contender!: Beau Andrews wanted to be an athlete, but when the game start is just lazing about the house.
• Jerkass: Beau's Lifetime Desire? Gold Digger. He may love his wife, but he'd have no problems if she died either.

The Bunch Family

The largest family in Sunset Valley, consisting of Jack and Judy, and their children Ethan, Lisa, Arlo and Darlene

• The Ace: Ethan seems to be this as he is a top student in school, and is very popular among the local teenagers.
• Attention Deficit.. Ooh, Shiny!: Arlo seems to have a major case of this, since his bio refers to him as a superduperextremehyperactive ball of energy.
• Badass Mustache: Jack's got one, befitting his starting career in the military.
• Born Unlucky: Darlene has the 'Unlucky' trait
• Dye Hard: In-universe. Strongly suggested with Judy, who has blonde roots in her hair, matching the purely blonde hair of her children.
• Formerly Fit: According to Judy's biography she used to be thin until her stressful job, as well as being a mother of four took its toll on her eating and exercise habits.
• Massive Numbered Siblings: Jack and Judy have four kids, with Judy's lifetime wish being to raise five.
• The Smart Guy: Ethan is the only one of the Bunch children pre-assigned the Genius trait.

The Clavell Family

Consists of the retired couple Buster and Bessie, and their mooching criminal son Xander

• The Casanova: Xander's initial Lifetime Wish is to be the boyfriend of ten different Sims.
• Elegant Classical Musician: Bessie used to be one, before she retired.
• Taking Advantage of Generosity: Bessie's bio says this has happened to her in the past. This probably has something to do with Xander's mooching tendencies.

The Frios

Brothers Jared and Conner Frio, who have very different problems. Jared is a jerk to everyone, and Conner refuses to socialize with anyone.

• The Aloner: Conner is Good, but he's also a Loner, believing that people will try and change him.
• The Casanova: Jared has already had a relationship with Claire Ursine that went badly. If left to his own devices, he tends to wind up repeating this with someone else.
• Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Jared. Strangely, his bio says he doesn't have the drive or ambition to become a great chef, despite that being his Lifetime Wish.
• Jerkass: Jared is mean-spirited and inappropriate. Never a good combination.
• Loners Are Freaks: Averted, Connor seems much more friendly and well-adjusted than his outgoing brother.
• Pet the Dog: Despite his mean-spirited personality, Jared doesn't try to change Connor, and seems to accept him for who he is.

The Hart Family

Town nutjobs Gus and Dorie Hart, and their long-suffering teenaged daughter Bebe

• But Not Too Black: Dorie is black, Gus Caucasian. Bebe's skin-tone is a mix
• Not So Above It All: According to Bebe's bio, both she and the town are worried she's going to turn out like this.
• Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Poor Bebe is stuck with both her parents being both childish and insane.
• Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Bebe is a technophobe, and will freak out near a television.
• Women Are Wiser: Utterly averted with Dorie, who's considered to be far stranger than her husband. Player straight with Bebe, at least.

Gobias Koffi

A self-absorbed middle-aged spinster.

• Ambiguously Gay: Gobias is heavily implied to be gay. The same goes for his late father, the Punnily Named Gaylord.
• Expy: For Tobias from Arrested Development. He even looks a hell of a lot like the actor David Cross.
• Narcissist: His house is full of unnecessary mirrors. You do the guessing.

Claire Ursine

A quiet, unassuming angler that resides on the beach.

• Animal Motifs/Meaningful Name: She's a hefty angler whose favorite meal is salmon, just like a grizzly bear before hibernation. She also gives birth to a baby girl, testing whether or not she can raise her like a mother bear.
• Difficulty Spike: First-time players will likely choose to play as this Sim, expecting it to be an event-less routine of fishing and going to work. Then she becomes a single parent, which tests the player's time management capabilities as they juggle work with parenting.
• Family Versus Career: Claire's obligation to raise her child to a successful adulthood interferes with her Lifetime Wish of becoming a master thief, especially with default aging settings enabled.
• Fat Girl: A reason why she stays away from people.
• Foreshadowing: Claire's waistline, nauseousness and ex-boyfriend in the relationships tab hint that she is pregnant.
• The Hermit/Not Good with People: Is a loner that loves the outdoors. As opposed to interacting with neighbors, she would rather be fishing, gardening, or taking care of her baby.
• Mama Bear: Averted; even though she's a mother whose Animal Motif is a bear, there are no situations that can arise that will evoke this trope.
• Walking Spoiler: The baby she's pregnant with.

• Big Fun: Emma Hatch is good natured and friendly.
• Online Alias/Only Known by Their Nickname: Cycl0n3 Sw0rd (his real name is never given) only ever goes by his online computer alias.
• Ridiculously Average Guy: Stiles is described as being a mystery to his roommates because he's so average.

Sekemoto Family

Christopher Steel

Christopher Steel is lucky by nature. Things have always come easily for him, which is starting to get boring. Now that he’s in a brand new town with no friends or job, how will he fare?

Wainwright Family

Susan and Boyd are techno geniuses who spend all of their available time with electronics. When their daughter, Blair, was a child, they bought every toy she asked for in the hopes that she would amuse herself and give them more free time for their hobbies. Now that Blair has moved out on her own, the Wainwrights are thinking of converting her old room for their next big project.. (Blair lives in the Roomies household)

• Insufferable Genius: Susan is both a genius and a snob. On the plus side, this makes her particularly easy to befriend, since flattering her genius gives a massive friendship boost.
• Hollywood Nerd: They are two of the most good-looking sims in Sunset Valley after a makeover.
  • Boyd expecially, by default he's utterly ignored and looks plain, but he becomes the most beautiful man in Sunset Valley once you change his hair and outfit.
• The Smart Guy: They're this to the other Sunset Valley premades in general. Susan expecially.
  • Boyd has shades of The Lancer towards Gunther.
• Multicolored Hair: Susan's brown with red streaks, while Boyd's white with blond streaks.
• Older Than They Look: Boyd's white hair aside, they don't really look old enough to have a grown up daughter, and in fact sometimes they barely look older than her.
• Absurdly Youthful Mother: Susan and Boyd barely look older than Blair, until they age up to Elder that is.
• Snobs Versus Slobs: Despite both being science nerds, Susan is much more classy and refined, while Boyd is much wilder and messier.

Wan-Goddard Family

Pauline and Hank are certain that they will be 2-gether 4-ever because they have so much in common: parties, the beach, and music. The only question is whether they can maintain their lifestyle.

• Commitment Issues: Both Pauline and Hank have the trait, meaning their relationship starts off strained.

Wolff Family

Both the arts and having children are very important to Morgana Wolff, but she has just learned that her new husband, Thornton, actively dislikes both. Oops. Can these newlyweds save their young marriage? Should they even try?

• Child Hater: Thornton.
• Jerkass: Thornton is difficult to socialize with.

Working Friends Household

Four women trying to make their way in the world have come together to share this house. Madison and Monica are best friends forever, Tori is a best-friend wannabe, and Ayesha is the tomboy who couldn’t care less.

• Punch-Clock Villain: Ayesha starts off in the Criminal career, but lacks the evil trait, or the desire to reach the top of the career path.

Agnes Crumplebottom

Agnes Crumplebottom hadn’t even changed her last name to her husband’s when an unfortunate accident on her honeymoon ended their marriage. Between her growing bitterness and her husband’s ghost scaring away gentlemen callers, only the bravest Sim would ever even try to win her heart and fortune now.

• Start of Darkness: Agnes is, in fact, the same dreaded Miss Crumplebottom from Hot Date in the original games. The trope has been downplayed as she becomes more of a nuisance than anything, but the point still stands.
• The Lost Lenore: Agnes' dead husband, Erik, is this this for her.

NPCs/Promotional Characters

• Decoy Protagonist/Lady Not-Appearing-in-This-Game: A dozen or so fully fleshed-out characters - such as Brianna, Liam O'Dourke and Kim Kent - were introduced as the denizens of Sunset Valley in the year or so leading up to the game's release and were quite popular. Fans were surprised, to say the least, when none of those promotional characters actually turned up in the game (though three were made into an official download and one was eventually included in a DLC town). Despite this, they all appear on the cover art of the base game, along with a few characters who actually did make it into the game.

The Newbie Family

Legacy Character Bob Newbie and his parents, Robert 'Bob' Sr. and Mags.

• High-School Sweethearts: It's revealed that Bob and Betty Simovitch were this, first meeting in high school shortly after Bob's family moved to town.
• Romantic False Lead: Promotional videos for the Riverview download showed Bob making out with another girl while Betty looked on and cried quietly. Since canonically they end up getting married, the other girl is generally regarded to be this trope for Bob.^note
• Bookworm: Bob is implied to be one.
• Jock Dad, Nerd Son: While Robert isn't a jock and Bob isn't overly nerdy, it is stated that Robert wishes for Bob to join him in fishing instead of spending all his time inside, reading.

The Simovitch Family

Legacy Character Betty Simovitch (the future Mrs Newbie) and her parents, Vadim and Fatima.

• High-School Sweethearts: Betty and Bob Newbie, her canonical future husband, are revealed to have met in high school shortly after Bob's family moved to town.
• Stage Mom: Fatima is one to Betty, encouraging her to practice her guitar all the time and seek out opportunities for fame instead of pursuing her romance with Bob.
• Ambiguously Brown: Vadim's skin color is just short of the black skintone.

The Broke Family

One of the biggest households in the game, the Broke family consists of Flat and Flo; their young adult daughter, Ruby; their much younger son, Skip, still in elementary school; Flat's widowed brother, Buck; and Buck's two children, Trigger and Susie.

• Continuity Snarl: One of the worst offenders in the game. Skip Broke, who canonically becomes the husband of Brandi Newbie, is here only a few years younger than her parents, who are teenagers in the same town and nowhere near starting a family together; furthermore, The Sims 2 gave no indication that Skip and Brandi were involved in a May–December Romance, and they were implied to be the same age.
  • However, it's worth noting that the Riverview creator blog hints that this was done deliberately, although why that's the case is never explained.
• Legacy Character: Skip Broke was Brandi's deceased husband in The Sims 2, and grew very popular due to the mystery surrounding his death. Flat and Flo both appeared in their son and grandsons' family trees. The other four members of the family are new in 3, however.
• Meaningful Name: The family have seven mouths to feed and next to no money when you first play them. However, since all four adults at least have part-time jobs (and it's possible for Trigger, who's a teen, to get another), it's not actually hard to have them get by in-game.
• Punny Name: Flat Broke speaks for itself; Flo Broke is probably a pun on 'cash flow'; Buck refers to the slang term for a dollar.
  • The creator blog implies that 'Skip' may also carry a double meaning - fan theories include this being a reference to the time-travel story-line set up in Riverview and Skip's possible involvement in it, or to a game-play tactic that will allow Brandi to 'skip' quickly through several birthdays to reach the same age as her future husband.
• Black Sheep: Skip is the only living member of the family who lacks either the Slob or Party Animal traits.
• Missing Mom: Mary Lu's death is why Buck and his kids moved in with the family.
• Happily Married: Flat and Flo are a surprisingly happy couple given their financial circumstances.

Don Lothario

Yes, that Don Lothario. His appearance in Riverview is unusual to say the least, considering that he's the same age as he was in The Sims 2 and so, canonically, shouldn't even have been born yet.

• The Casanova: Gets sent back in time and picks straight up where he left off. His lifetime wish is 'The Heartbreaker'.
• Our Time Travel Is Different: Don remembers going back in time as nothing more than 'a flash of bright light, a lot of women laughing', and then waking up somewhere else entirely. Since Don himself has no idea how he was sent back, this is all the elaboration we get.
• Runaway Groom: Don's cold feet about his upcoming wedding are believed to have been the reason he was sent back in time. It's (probably deliberately) left ambiguous as to whether this happens immediately after the start of 2 (when he's known to leave Cassandra at the altar if the player doesn't intervene), or whether some time has passed and it's a different fiancee he's abandoned this time.
• Time Travel: Riverview!Don is the originator of the time-travel story-line that came up now and again over the course of The Sims 3. The Ambitions and Into the Future EP's dealt with it further.
• Trapped in the Past: Riverview is set 50 years before Pleasantview. Since Don was sent back in time against his will, he has no way of getting back to his own time.
• Woman Scorned: It's heavily implied that at least two of Don's exes were involved in his involuntary trip back in time. Since the women whose affections he toyed with in 2 included quarter-alien hybrid twins, a (probable) witch, and a wealthy scientist, it's not hard to see how they might have scraped together the resources to pull off this sort of plot.

Jones Family

A young couple that inherited a house in Riverview, that turned out to be haunted by the ghosts of their relatives.

• Cute Ghost Girl: Kirsten Remington, Hannah's deceased cousin.
• Infant Immortality: Averted, since teenaged Cody and elementary-school-aged Kirsten are dead as well.
• Missing Mom: Hannah's mother Lydia is dead and haunts the lot, she also died as an adult, meaning that she either had Hannah very early, or died when she was a teen.

Hunter Cottoneye

A crazed, mean spirited conspiracy theorist who has took up residence in a bunker.

• Conspiracy Theorist: It has gone so far that he has moved to a remote bunker and has no friends or accquaintances.
• Cool Car: He drives a green-camoed pick-up.
• Cool Shades: He may be insane and violent, but he wears cool sunglasses.
• Crazy Survivalist: According to his traits, he's an insane and misanthropist jerk. He has no family or acquaintances in the neighborhood. He's fully dressed in camo. And, as previously stated, he lives alone in a freaking bunker.
• Perma-Stubble: Wears one, fitting his 'rugged and badass survivalist' persona. His facial hair are a bit longer on mustache and chin areas.

Constance Shelley

A quiet journalist living on her own in a fancy house.

• Artificial Stupidity: As a result of the game's AI pathfinding (less doors to cross equals shorter way) combined with her house's layout, if she's in her kitchen, her Ai's routine to go to work consists in leaving the house through a backdoor, then going all the way back to the entrance while walking along the garden's fence (outside of the garden), which only requires to use a single door; of course, the reverse happens if she's ordered to do something in the kitchen while she's outside. There's a much more logical path in an almost straight line, but it requires to go through three doors instead a single one (kitchen to living room, then entrance door, then a gate in the fence).
• Gameplay and Story Segregation: Her biography states she's not interested in having a social life or finding love, but she doesn't have any trait (Loner/Shy, Unflirty) reflecting it.
• Hot Librarian: A bookworm dressed in a long skirt, a long-sleeved shirt, and sporting big glasses and a bun. Though she's not a librarian^note but she starts as a journalist, while aspiring to be a writer.
• The Klutz: Has the Clumsy and Absent-Minded traits.
• Meganekko: Her everyday and formal attires include a pair of large spectacles.
• Pink Means Feminine: In her stats, pink is her favorite colour. Her everyday clothes consists in a striped pink-and-white long-sleeved shirt with a pink long skirt.
• Shout-Out: Her name refers to Percy Bysshe Shelley and his poem 'To Constantia, Singing'. Both are writers.
• Super OCD: Having the Neurotic trait, she occasionnaly has various compulsions, like checking if the oven is turned off, cleaning various objects, etc.

The Curious Family

• Race Lift: Notzo is black in this game, when he was medium skinned in The Sims 2.
• Legacy Character: Notzo Curious was the grandfather of the Curious Brothers and Jenny Smith in The Sims 2. The characters' popularity led to him being included in the sequel.

The Roomies Household

• Ambiguously Gay/Hide Your Gays: Blaise Kindle and Alma Drill are implied to be about to 'learn something new' about their friendship now that they've moved in together. And their shared bedroom contains two single beds pushed together to look like a double..

The Goth Family

• Absurdly Youthful Mother: Bella is aged down in the alternate universe from the same age as her husband (who is an Adult, in this case; The Sims 3 establishes they were at school together in the original universe) to being much younger. The result of having Bella start out on the first day of the young adult life stage is that there's no room in her new timeline for any pregnancies, let alone for her to be the mother of a teenager.
  • Notably, while other games have implicitly assumed that Bella is simply Older Than They Look to keep her age in line with Mortimer's, and that she's possibly been using more age reversing rewards than he has, there's no indication that this is the case in The Sims 4. Indeed, the decision to age her down despite the lack of cosmetic differences between Young Adults and Adults in this version seems to indicate it was an active decision to have Mortimer and Bella involved in a May–December Romance in this incarnation, though it's not really explored in the family bio as might be expected.
• Age Lift:
  • Bella has been aged down from an Adult who's the same age as her husband to a Young Adult who's obviously his junior. It could be a reference to how, in The Sims 2, Bella stopped aging after she went missing.
  • Both Cassandra and Alexander, in relation to their parents and each other from the original timeline. While in The Sims 2 Cassandra was in her late teens when Alexander was born, here they're much closer in age, as he's in Grade School while she's in High School. This means that Alexander was born much earlier in this continuity. The same may be true for Cassandra herself, since in The Sims she was a child rather than a teen, and would have to have been born much earlier if the fan theory that The Sims and The Sims 4 take place at around the same time in their respective universes is correct.
• Fair Cop: This continuity's version of Bella is employed in the Secret Agent career, which was intended as a substitute for the Law Enforcement career from previous games (at least, until the Detective career was added in the first expansion pack). And she's beautiful, of course.
• Legacy Character: Though The Sims 4 is an Alternate Universe apart from the first three games, the inclusion of the Goth family (as represented by Mortimer, Bella, Cassandra, and Alexander) was such a popular fan demand that EA/Maxis apparently didn't dare release the game without them.
• May–December Romance: Unlike the original incarnations of Mortimer and Bella, who were childhood friends, Bella is significantly younger than Mortimer in this version: she's a Young Adult, he's an Adult, making them about three weeks apart in age (which is a fairly big difference, considering Sims only have about a sixteen week life span; mathematically, the real-world equivalent would be about fifteen years, though Sims life stages don't progress naturally enough to reflect that). Notable in that they're the only couple in this version of the game whose romantic partner is outside of their own life stage.

The Pancakes Family

• Babies Make Everything Better: The 'Toddler' patch gave Bob and Eliza a son, Iggy, who is said to have brought 'a small measure of harmony' to his parents' strained marriage.
• Ridiculously Average Guy: Bob was featured in a trailer as 'the most boring Sim ever'.
• Suspiciously Similar Substitutes: For Bob and Betty Newbie. Their appearances, names, and dynamic all call back to various incarnations of the Newbies over the course of the franchise's original timeline.
• Slobs Vs Snobs: Bob has the Slob trait, while Eliza is both Neat and Materialistic, therefore playing this trope both possible ways.
• Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: While Bob is not strictly unpleasant looking, his extremely laid-back attire and increasing grubbiness if the player lets him have his way about fulfilling the Hygiene need contrast sharply with the always well-groomed Eliza.

The Spencer-Kim-Lewis Family

• Absurdly Youthful Mother: Alice and Eric are only at the beginning of the Young Adult life stage, meaning that they shouldn't technically be able to have a daughter who's already a Child (or, indeed, be parents at all yet) unless they've had access to youth potion.
• The Ghost: Lydia Spencer, Alice's mother, is mentioned in the family bio but doesn't actually appear anywhere in the game. It's implied she's not dead, but moved away after divorcing Dennis.
• Overly Long Name: The family seems to have an aversion to changing their names upon marriage or choosing one partner's name to be the child's surname. Hence, Dennis Kim and Lydia Spencer have a daughter named Alice Spencer-Kim (not too bad in itself), who grows up to marry Eric Lewis, and who saddles her own daughter with the less-than-concise moniker of Olivia Spencer-Kim-Lewis.^note

The BFF Household

• Betty and Veronica: Up to a point. Players familiar with the source material will probably regard Summer as the Veronica to Liberty's Betty, since even though MySims Kingdom gave the player the choice of which girl to pair up with Travis, it was pretty heavily implied that he and Liberty were perfect for each other, while Summer's infatuation with him was genuine but based far more on his looks than his personality. However, The Sims 4Averts this to a surprising degree, giving both women one trait and one skill interest in common with Travis, making them both genuinely seem like good potential love interests.
• Canon Immigrant: Summer, Liberty, and Travis all originally appeared in the MySims games before appearing here in the main series.
• Love Triangle: The household bio implies that Travis has attracted the romantic attentions of both his female roommates. This is not the case in-game, though it's a reference to the trio's story line in MySims Kingdom.
• Two Girls and a Guy: They had this dynamic in the MySims games, and continue it (sans that 'childhood' part) now that they're adults in The Sims 4.

Alex Moyer

• But Now I Must Go: After completing the tutorial, she moves out, telling you that she now has other new Sims to help get adjusted to the neighborhood. You can remain friends with her, however, and even invite her to move back in.
• Immortality: Unlike other Sims, she always remains a young adult, even if she's added to a player household.

The Landgraab Family

• Adaptational Attractiveness: Malcolm is slim, somewhat good-looking and decently dressed, compared to the chubby kid with glasses and dorky clothes he was in Sims 3.
• Adaptational Ugliness: Geoffrey looks older, dresses more modestly, and has a potbelly, unlike his younger looking, more handsome Sims 3 version.
• Adaptational Villainy: Malcolm and Nancy are much less pleasant than their The Sims 3 incarnations. Malcolm has the Evil trait (his TS3 counterpart was Good), while Nancy works as a crime lord (in TS3 she was a businesswoman).
• Dating Catwoman: Nancy and Geoffrey are Happily Married, but their family bio indicates that Nancy and Geoffrey are hiding something from each others, which may have something to do with their conflicting carreers as Geoffrey is a secret agent while nancy is a criminal.
• Rich Bitch: Nancy, the insanely wealthy, stuck-up career criminal.
  • Malcolm, even more so, since his traits make him actively malicious.
• Dark-Skinned Blonde: All of them are rather tanned.
• Legacy Character: Almost as much as the Goths. Notably, the Landgraab family in The Sims 4 is represented by versions of the same characters who appeared in The Sims 3 base game.
• Laughably Evil: Malcolm has the Evil trait, which pretty much guarantees this.
• Teens Are Monsters: Malcolm is one nasty young guy.
• Token Good Teammate: Geoffrey is the only member of the Landgraabs who retains his benevolent personality, specially now that he has the good trait and works as a crime fighter.

The Caliente Family

• Adaptation Species Change: No mention is made of the twins having Alien ancestors, mostly because Aliens don't exist in the base game.
• Absurdly Youthful Mother: Katrina Caliente, the twins' mother in the alternate universe, looks barely any older than her daughters. (She is in the Adult life stage, while they are Young Adults; in-game it can be very hard to differentiate, especially if no cosmetic ageing features have been used on the Adult, as is the case with Katrina.) It's also actually impossible for her to be their mother in-game without having used the youth potion reward, since she'd have had to have given birth to them on her first day of the Young Adult life stage (leaving no room in the time frame for the actual pregnancy).
• Adaptation Name Change: Dina and Nina's mother was named Nighat in the original continuity, but here is called Katrina. (Assuming she's meant to be the same character at all, which is unclear.)
  • It is speculated that the name was changed because Nighat is picked up by the word filter, and would as such not appear on the Gallery.
• The Alcoholic: It's a case of Getting Crap Past the Radar, but Dina's ambitions all revolve around learning to make ever more elaborate drinks at the bar and then consuming them.
• Brilliant, but Lazy: Nina is as intelligent and cunning as her other incarnations, but while they were all athletic and ambitious, she's lazy and work-shy.

The Roomies Household

• Expy: For the four main characters from New Girl: Zoe is Jess (her name is even a clear homage to Zooey Deschanel), Mitchell is Nick, J is Schmidt, and Gavin is Winston.
• One-Letter Name: J Huntington III. 'J' is recognised by the game engine as his full first name.
• Shout-Out/Whole Plot Reference: The entire household is a thinly veiled homage to the sitcom New Girl.
• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: For other households named 'Roomies' over the course of the series, particularly the ones which appeared in The Sims for console and The Sims 3.

Johnny Zest

• I Have No Son!: His bio reveals that Johnny Zest isn't his real name, and that he's actually a Landgraab (it's unclear whether he's Nancy and Geoffrey's son, and therefore Malcolm's older brother, or a more distant relative). The name change is actually to promote his career as a comedian, but this led him to be disowned by the Landgraabs, so now he goes by it full-time.
• Only Known By TheirStage Name: Though his bio confirms that his legal surname is/was Landgraab. It's unclear whether his first name really is Johnny or not.
• Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Johnny's trailer home looks an awful lot like Dudley Landgraab's trailer from the first generation console games. Johnny himself could easily pass for a cleaned-up version of Dudley. (Since 'Johnny Zest' is a stage name, he might even be this timeline's version of Dudley).

• Big Sister Worship: Younger sister Yuki adores her older sister Candy.
• Expy: Candy is one of DJ Candy 'Supergroove' from MySims, and even has a MySims trophy of her in her bedroom.
• Gamer Chick: Yuki starts out at level 6 in Video Gaming.
• Playful Hacker: Yuki's bio states that she aspires to be one of the most infamous hackers in Windenburg, though she doesn't start out with the necessary skill level in Programming to do so.
• You Don't Look Like You: Subverted with Candy who shares enough similarities with her MySims counterpart. Yuki however, is another case. In My Sims she is a quirky Ambiguously Brown girl with dark Anime Hair, purple eyes, Cute Little Fangs and wears a kimono-like dress, while here she is a geeky fair skinned girl with medium teal hair, brown eyes and wears a regular set of pants and t-shirt.

The Villareal Family

• Evil Genius: Jacques is implied to be one, as he possesses the Insane/Erratic and Genius traits, has level 9 skill in Logic, and his rank in the Boss branch of the Criminal career (level 9) is 'The Brains'.
• Sibling Rivalry: Luna and Max are members of the two largest opposing clubs, the Paragons and the Renegades.

The Bjergsen Family

• Child Prodigy: Younger sister Elsa starts with a maxed-out Mental skill, and leads the young League of Adventurers club.
• Teen Genius: When it comes to music, Sofia is the star of the family with a level 8 Guitar skill, and is often seen performing for tips in San Myshuno in the City Living expansion. Despite this, she feels overshadowed by her equally-smart younger sister Elsa.

The Munch Family

• Cheerful Child: Lucas, the youngest brother, cheers up his mother Mila after she comes home from her job as a caterer.
• Emo Teen: Wolfgang has the Gloomy and Mean traits, and he dresses the part with his dark-colored clothes and thick black Guyliner.
• Momma's Boy: Gunther is implied to be one, for the family bio states that he refuses to leave the house to strike out on his own.

The Free Spirits

• The Perfectionist: Ulrike is a skilled (level 5) painter and very artistic-minded, and the bio for the household states that she has yet to craft a painting to satisfy her standards.

The Rasoya Family

• I Want Grandkids: Geeta is worried that her Unflirty son Raj is unable to find a date, and that she'll have no one to carry on the family line when she dies.
• Supreme Chef: Raj has a maxed-out Cooking skill and is also very skilled (level 7) in Gourmet Cooking. His mother Geeta is no slouch herself with a level 8 Cooking skill, but never bothered to extend into Gourmet Cooking.

• Classical Movie Vampire: His main form.
• Expy: Of Dracula. His main form resembles Christopher Lee's take on the character, while his dark form and main outfit are a Shout-Out to Nosferatu.
• Frozen Fashion Sense: While most other vampires in the game are seen in contemporary wear, his default outfit is a simple black peacoat.

Orange is their good natured son but due to his entire life of wanting-for-nothing, he is also a bit naive.

• Aerith and Bob: Octavia is a normal first name. Thorne as a first name is a bit uncommon, but nothing special. But Orange? Doubles as a reference to another celebrity child, Apple Martin, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin of Coldplay.

• Badass Grandpa: Other than being a veteran pilot, he has the active trait, a bit of developed fitness and survived the plane crash that let him stranded on StrangerVille.
• Grumpy Old Man: He has the hot-headed trait, and it's very likely that his destroyed plane is the source of his anger.
• Goggles Do Nothing: His pilot helmet comes with a pair of goggles that are just there for show.
• The Hermit: His bio states that while harmless he prefers to keep to himslef.

The Roswell family

The oldest couple living in StrangerVille. the couple consist of Ted Roswell, the current town mayor who is determined to make the small and isolated StrangerVille as technologically advanced as possible and Meredith, his wife who's worried that he might be getting a bit out of hand with it.

• Americans Are Cowboys: Both them dress in stereotypical Wild West attire.
• Informed Attribute: Ted is supposed to be the mayor of StrangerVille but he's unemployed at the beginning of the game.
• Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Meredith has blonde hair and the good trait.
• HouseWife: Meredith fits the bill with her developed cooking skills and neat trait.
• Wrench Wench: Meredith also starts with a high level of handiness.

Erwin Pries

One of the three sims featured in the reveal trailer for the StrangerVille pack, as well as the main narrator for the Investigation trailer. Erwin is responsible for running the Curio Stand, where he sells all manner of goods that might be useful to someone digging into StrangerVille's secrets..

• Conspiracy Theorist: You bet! Most of the merchandise at his Curio Stand revolves around this sort of thing, including a book on 'avoiding unwanted snoops and spies'.
  Erwin: They're lying to you! Something bad is happening here, and it's only getting worse!
• Meaningful Name: Erwin Pries? He certainly does, considering that he's able to give you a keycard to the Secret Lab if you do a little prying yourself.
• Mood-Swinger: He's got the Erratic trait, which means he'll randomly flip between emotions and can even talk to himself.
• Speaking Simlish: Partially averted, actually. As the narrator for the Investigation trailer, Erwin speaks English, which is even lipsynced for the brief times where he's on-screen. Ingame, of course, he speaks Simlish just like everybody else.
• Tinfoil Hat: Less 'tinfoil' and more like 'colander with Christmas lights taped on', but it's clearly meant to evoke the trope. He'll sell one to any Sim who asks.

Another trio has flown the coup for Academie Le Tour: Best Friends Forever Chloe Gonzaga, Gabriella Pleasant and Ethel Burb.
